How much truth is there to the Bush ads on Kerry's health care plan?
The Bush ads show some contrived flow chart that involves the Dept of Labor, the IRS and lord knows how many other cabinet-level departments, obviously trying to scare voters into thinking Kerry will bring you more government red-tape and little service.

How much of this is true?

4. zero.... look at Kerry's site for rebuttal
Kerry is just talking about being able to buy into the pool that gov'ment workers use

wish i could buy into a big pool to lower my costs

hubby and i (both of us in our 40's) are paying $475 a month for large copays and horrible drug benefits

the only meds either of us take regularly is hubby needs allergy meds. the only one that works for him well is zyrtec. the "copay" from our insurance is more than we can buy it retail by almost $100. he doesn't take it cuz we can't afford the $80 a month

Kerry's other plan is for the g'ment to insure the catastrophic cases for companies. ie cover costs over a certain amount so the whole pool's numbers don't go up for just one or two catastrophic cases in a year

9. zero

No truth to it. Re-watch the debates. I think it was in Debate #3 where Kerry took a shite on Bush's head on this exact topic.

6. I've seen that ad too and from what I could tell it seemed wrong.
It showed all kinds of bureaucracy between Doctor and patient. It must be another lie.

12. None. And I say this as one who supports neither candidate
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 06:14 PM by DuctapeFatwa
If some of you will recall during the primaries, (during which I supported no candidate) there was discussion here and elsewhere on the topic of the US sacred cow of medical treatment as commercial commodity.

Critics of this cow, whether internet poster or political hopeful, were resoundingly shouted down, pelted with overripe fruit, and barely escaped being enrobed in an orange jumpsuit and packed off to Gitmo.

Kerry's health care plan is in no way, shape or form anything even approaching what is popularly referred to as "govment health care" or the dreaded "socialized medicine," which bete one can hear decried by Wal-Mart shoppers in the same breath with which they bemoan their inability to afford medical treatment.

If you will notice, neither insurance nor pharmaceutical nor medical supply companies are flooding the airwaves to denounce Kerry's views on medical treatment, which you can be assured they would do, if they perceived a danger of decrease in revenue.

And to his credit, Kerry does not attempt to paint his plan as something it is not.

13. No truth, per factcheck
Bush Mischaracterizes Kerry's Health Plan
Bush claims Kerry's plan puts "bureaucrats in control" of medical decisons, "not you, not your doctor." But experts don't agree with that.

14. i will pay for kerry's health plan
for three decades i have watched prices of insurance go up, and less and less covered. just heard brother coverage, 250 a month. he had to go into hospital for surgery. he pays deduction and the 25% of surgery. if it is under a covered hospital. otherwise he pays 50%. now in going in for surgery in a small town one hospital and immediately, where is the option of finding a covered hospital.

nope, i am ready to pay government to get me an insurance that will fuck me less and give me more
