(we are encouraged to 'borrow and spend', just as * does.)

Sounds like getting revenue to spend sounds better than racking up the plastic?

1. Because we workin' folks
are supposed to consume and then die, without taxing our rich superiors. We must enhance their wealth, not benefit from it!

4. You're right...and
that's why credit cards are plentiful. And that's also why our glorious leaders have been trying to change the bankruptcy laws to favor business. Guess what, bankruptcy will soon mean that no debt is written off. You just need to find another way to pay for it.

I have no sympathy for credit card companies or other such social pariahs. They brainwash the populace from the moment they are able to hear the TEEE VVEEEE that we should SPEND SPEND SPEND.. and then, when we don't earn a high enough salary to actually OWN anything, and can't pay back the high interest debt, they start whining about our obligations. Ok, I'm done tangentalizing on this...

for the moment

2. Agreed. It's better than the Bush* philosophy of "spend and spend."

I honestly don't mind higher taxes if it means we're getting better schools, quality public works projects, better health care for our citizens, etc.

3. in a way, it's like "liberal": say it with disdain enough, it becomes evil
although the "tax" part is the true evil.

"tax and spend" was originally supposed to be the alternative to "don't tax and don't spend", appealling to the gop "shrink govenment" mantra.

of course, as we all know, republicans are only in favor of shrinking government when democrats are in a position to grow it.

the "borrow and spend" philosophy, as evidenced by republicans (reagan and bush sr., not just shrub) is something they would rake democrats over the coals with if we did it.

5. the "L" word
The reich wingers repeatedly use the "L" word {'liberal' for those who don't know it} to describe Kerry even though his Congressional voting record is clearly that of a moderate. And yet, there is absolutely no response from the DNC to it. In fact, it appears that the DNC approves of the word.

Can someone enlighten me? Why does the DNC accept the word liberal when it clearly is not warranted?

8. EVEN Bill Gates uses bridges and freeways
Yes, yes BOTH sides have their silly, expensive pet projects that we need to stop.....BUT most stuff( outside of the Pentagon) is needed by all. Bushit wants to 'give you back your money". can YOU build a freeway, protect a nuclear reactor or try and keep Corporate American from destroying this country? Our regulatory agencies are the sh*ts, but IF we didn't have them what else would multinations do?
