***Now is the time to redouble our efforts against Sincair!!! ***
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 06:48 PM by JohnnyCougar
Listen to me! Don't get discouraged. I was reading a posting on dKos, and someone spoke with one of the station managers. The stations themselves don't want to air the "movie." The station manager said Sinclair wasn't suspecting such a response, and they are starting to waiver. They only offered Kerry equal time to silence the outrage to protect their advertisers! Their advertisers are getting pissed!

Keep up the work, people! The advertisers can't take another week of this! Spread the word to everyone you know, and I mean EVERYONE!! We haven't even hit our stride with this yet! In less than a week, over 50 advertisers have caved, and more will cave in the next few days!

Remember, Sinclairs methods are ILLEGAL!!!! Over 50 advertisers have pulled or regulated their ads, and the rest are on the phone with Sinclair managment asking WTF is going on!!

Go, my fellow DUers, the fight has not yet begun!!!!

2. Way to go!!!
Personal e-mails and phone calls are harder to ignore, also. Here is the top 10 list from the site. I am going to send a personalized message to everyone on there. Phone calls will work as well. http://www.boycottsbg.com/advertisers/topTenAdvertisers.aspx

Keep going people!!!!!

3. Is K-mart still an advertiser?
I saw them on the first list of sponsors to boycott, but not on the most recent. I dropped them an e-mail asking if they were, and let them know in a polite way how I felt about the airing of this smear film days before the election. I'm waiting to hear from them before I do any shopping at their store. I've already been boycotting Wal-Mart for 5 years, so it's been K-mart for all my household/cleaning items.

5. I don't see them anywhere...
Maybe they pulled their ads.

Here's another list of advertisers...I didn't see them there, either:

4. Good going! Keep up the effort.
I would like to stress that we do not object to Sinclair's decision because of any potential impact on our candidate. No matter what side such tactic would favor or oppose, it is not ethical.

Sinclair is a business and should behave as one. It should act with a responsibility to its shareholders and viewers. In this case it is clearly acting like a facet of a political party and that is not acceptable in any way.

On a side note, I have been watching the SGBI symbol. While SGBI has not been a good performer at all since last November, the past few days have been both volatile and show a steady decline. This is another place that Sinclair may be finding a financial reaction to their political ambitions. Shareholders may hold them accountable as they drive the company into the ground.

Personally, I advise my friends who invest to consider taking a loss on a long-term position they may have on the company. Though they should probably get out now, I tell them any loss could be considered a campaign contribution and a vote for ethics on the air.

Along those lines, those with Mutual Funds can call their managers and see what they can do to influence a dump of this stock for practical reasons.
