Man says Kerry is a cut above-Mows 71 -ft. KERRY after his sign was stolen
HURDLE MILLS -- John Clayton said the hardest part about creating a 71-foot-wide campaign sign for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry on his front lawn was the "K. He had a hard time remembering the formula for a right angle, which was necessary for creating a proper "K," he said. So he consulted his daughter, and using nails and a string to keep his mower on track, he cut out a nearly perfect letter.

Clayton said he was hopping mad after someone stole a Kerry for president campaign sign from his front lawn last month. That anger motivated him to create the new sign, he said.

2. My kind of lawn-warrior!!!

<snip>
"I thought I'd put a sign in my yard can't nobody do harm to unless they go out of their way to do it," he said.

Clayton, 54, said his support for Kerry this year would mark only the second time he's voted for a Democratic presidential candidate since he began voting in 1968 -- the first was in 2000. Although he isn't a veteran, he said he did take issue with comments that were made in 2000 about Vietnam War veteran and former prisoner of war Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

"I never have recovered from that," Clayton said. "I just got a real bad taste in my mouth in the year 2000."

He also thinks that Kerry is a smart man who has handled this heated political campaign well, he said. So he was happy to take a Kerry campaign sign that his daughter had given him in mid-September and stake it in his lawn.

9. So you are saying we should let those Bush bullies push us around?
the only way we'll win is to stand up to them.
I think JK learned that from the 2000 coup!

11. Your not going to do anything against someone you dont see
They will key your car when you arnt there.
They will salt his lawn when hes asleep.

Save the rambo motif, your not going to be "fighting" any bullies. You will be buying a new lawn or paint job. Fight them the right way, in the ballot box.

17.  of course vote, but every sign & bumpersticker spreads the message
and it's very important- it's not like JK can use our tax money for the campaign like bush does.
Bush pays almost nothing for AF 1,
he says he's giving a major policy announcement but it's simply Kerry bashing.
He also has the media noise machine on his side-
so every sign & bumpersticker helps JK/JE bring back democracy.

8. Check out this link to a farm field by Des Moines Airport
http://www.wowt.com/news/headlines/1104716.html

. . . Mark McClain, who leads the Northwest Airlines pilots union, has plowed the word "KERRY" into his soybean field near the airport in Des Moines.

The letters are nearly 200 yards tall and stretch more than a half-mile wide, according to the union which says they can be seen from 20,000 feet up.

16. Awesome Dude!
"McClain says nearly 88,000 airline passengers will fly out of Des Moines this month and he says he wants them to know Kerry is the only candidate committed to the airline industry."

15. He definitely has his head screwed on right.
Note the comments about the primary of 2000 and what was done, dirty-tricks-wise, to John McCain. Notice Mr. Clayton's plea that everyone respect each other's property and just express their opinions by voting. The man is a breath of fresh air.

21. Thank you--Cheered me up
I doubt that mowing a 71 ft sign for Kerry was what Stewart had in mind when he made this remark on Crossfire recently. LOL!!!!!!!

"The thing is, we need your help," Stewart said. "Right now, you're helping the politicians and the corporations and we're left out there to mow our lawns."

23. I especially liked this part...
for some reason:
Mark Phillips, chairman of the Person County Republican Party, said he thought Clayton's lawn sign was ingenious.

"If Kerry is his man, more power to him," Phillips said. "I wish someone would mow 'Bush' in their yard."

Awesome story!

I saw the most assinine bumpersticker EVER today:
Kerry is a Fairy, Push for Bush
Kind of makes you picture some 'pub on a toilet trying to drop a dry load, doesn't it?

I didn't get mad or flip the people off. However, being like many people who slap mindless 'pub propoganda on their cars, the guy driving had his head up his ass, so my car w/it's two Kerry bumperstickers left them in the dust. :)
