In case you get a call to donate to the Fraternal Order of Police...
Before you decide what to tell them, you should know that they are rabid rightwing supporters of the Chimp and downright nasty to Kerry. I didn't know this before tonight. I think they solicit donations by phone. (You can contact them to let them know what you think of their snarky press releases, too, if you want to.)

And, as an alternative, you might consider supporting the International Brotherhood of Police Officers or the International Union of Police Associations, which have endorsed Kerry.

1. The cops I talk to here in AZ are about evenly split
Half of them support * because they're rah rah grunt types and the other half like Kerry b/c of his position on assault rifles and cops on the street programs. So thanks for the links on Int'l Brotherhood group. I'll donate to them from now on.

2. Those jerks used to call here, regularly.
I told them in no uncertain terms, in 2000 and 2001, if they called here again I would do what I could to sue them. They hooked me up to a recorder and one of their higher up dogs and I repeated my anger. NEVER call here again, under any circumstances.

3. The IBPO can count on my support
If they ever call my home asking for money or send me a letter, I will give. The Fraternal Order can kiss my a**!

4. To begin with when you get a call from the Fraternal Order of Police
It's not a policeman! It a paid professional oganization that takes 86% of the take. In Florida it's the Gehl Coperation doing the fundraising.

5. Most cops are braindead bullies. Why would I ever support them?

6. If You Really Want to Hack Them Off
tell them that your local news station carried a story about fraudulent phone solicitations and a local police officer suggested that you ask for information by mail. Said that any reputable organization should be willing to provide written information about themselves. I did this once and I thought the guy on the other end of the phone was going to explode. After that, I couldn't quit laughing.

Those guys call here in Oklahoma ALL the time.

8. I have always thought of them as ...
a boiler room scam deal. I have always hung up on them.

Actually, hanging up is the nicest thing you can do to a telephone solicitor ... get's them to their next call faster.

If you want to hassle them, manipulate them into a long conversation.
