I'm kind of proud of myself.... |

Since I've put a Kerry sticker on my car, it has served as an icebreaker in several conversations about Kerry. One young man (who is newly eligible to vote) in my son's high school band has talked to me several times. He is definitely pro-Kerry, along with his mom and sister (who is too young to vote). Dad is the only only holdout, and he doesn't seem too enthusiastic one way or the other.
Anyway, I was saying I needed to go to local Dem HQ to get some yard signs to replace the ones that were stolen by Bushies the night of the debate, and he asked where it was. I told him. Well, today, he mentioned to me how he and his friend went down this morning and did a precinct walk.
I was psyched! Now if I could only get that kind of enthusiasm from my own son...

Isn't it amazing how many people say that they're for Kerry, and yet refuse to put up a yard sign or have a bumper sticker, let alone volunteer? When I do my precinct walking, many people tell me they're AFRAID to have a Kerry yard sign, and I live in California! Keep talking to people until Nov. 2! It's the most important thing you can do.:)

before the election (I am involved in an on-going Habitat for Humanity build), but it doesn't keep me from doing a little informal networking.

4. Excellent, this is why stickers and signs are so important! |
|
I have a sticker on my car and I routinely wear a button or a t-shirt. I don't really care who doesn't like it. I make a big point to "advertise" when I know I will have an opportunity to talk to people, like at my son's baseball games or at the grocery store.
It's a great conversation starter, and as you can attest to, it might just motivate someone else to get involved.

to a STOMP concert in Morgantown, WV (which is quite good if they're coming to your town) and struck up several conversations all night people who were there to the waitress at the restaurant afterwards. I know as a car salesman that the little dealership logo on the back of your car is worth thousands of dollars to them in name recognition alone. Stickers, buttons, lawn signs, etc are extremely valuable to the campaign.
