Lynn Cheney is going to cause a backlash in Kerry's favor |
|
I honestly think so. She is going overboard--calling Kerry a "bad man" and now a "pig". And for what? standing up for her daughter's rights. I think even many of the people who may have felt that Kerry shouldn't have mentioned Mary's name--will look at these nasty, mean-spirited comments of Lynn Cheney and say, "Your making too much out of this and crossing the line."
I hope the press picks up on this.

It's sad that Lynn exploited Mary but then Mary is a pimp for Peter Coors and the GOP.

3. Well, alright, but let's not push this. |
|
We want to be talking about the issues right now.

4. It still frosts my behind that she can make money off a lesbian novel |
|
she wrote (see previous thread) and yet she can express indignation over remarks made by Kerry & Edwards, pointing out how Bush's policies affect the VICE PRESIDENT's ALREADY VERY VERY VERY OUT DAUGHTER.
What a beeeee-yatch!

5. Maybe it is just me but I felt Lynn was smiling while she was "indignant" |
|
Folks are no longer talking it up except over at Fox News today. I hope it dies. Yes, it looks like the Cheneys have worked this too hard, especially when they have been selective about talking about Mary themselves....using her sexuality when it has been politically advantageous for them.
Lynn's facial expressions when talking about it do not display honest indignation. She seems almost jublilant that Kerry gave them an opening to change the subject from the failures of Bush/Cheney.

6. I don't think many people care either way |
|
No offense to your analysis, which could be true. But I just don't think many people care. People who will use this as an issue to vote against Kerry have already decided they don't like him for whatever reason, and they are just looking for an excuse that doesn't require them to reveal themselves as political idiots. We didn't lose them, they were already lost, since the real issues elude their grasp.

7. we need to get it out that she did nothing when Alan Keyes |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 02:19 AM by JI7
called Mary whatever that was he called her. that itself just shows the hypocrisy of the right wing. and that they are doing this for political reasons.
but we all know one of the reasons they didn't or "couldn't" respond to keyes was because doing so would require them to defend homosexuality in itself. and that would not go well with their base.
the way they are attacking kerry works well with their base. because the outrage comes with the asusmption that there is something wrong with being gay. the comparisons i have heard them bring up equate it with being a drug addict, or having some other problem which requires punishment or help.so in their minds they see it as kerry wrongly bringing up their daughter's "shameful" background.
someone needs to confront her directly and ask her why there was no outrage at what Keyes said. and what she thinks about what keyes said.
