Her husband is being destroyed by the job. If she has any love for him, she'll urge him to let the WH go. He could find a way out, even now.

1. Stepford wife
I rolled my eyes during the third debate when the moderator described Bush's wife as a "strong woman". I don't feel animosity towards her like I do Bush, but she's certainly not doing anything useful with her position.

2. a strong woman who....
...cared for her husband would not let him suffer as he obviously is -- his face at the debates was proof of his despair and misery.

3. has she adopted any cause, as is traditional?
I mean, even Nancy Reagan had her anti-drug, 'just say no' bit, however lame it may have been...

5. If she really did love him she would have told him he was in way over his
head and having his strings pulled like a little chimp puppet the first few days of his term. The guy is a completely embarrassment to himself and his family and our country. The republicans should be ashamed of themselves. Mike Malloy repeat tonight was playing Bush out takes and doing that AFLAC duck sound and it was so appropriate. We are led by a complete idiot. Sitcom producers would have loved to have a show centered around this guy.

6. I believe....
...she currying favor with him by supporting him through this difficult time. Earning points, as it were. It's kind of a sick and twisted family dynamic. George is always the "patient" and the family members fix things for him.

7. Didn't Comedy Central have one? "That's My Bush" or something?
I think it went away after the war started. I tried watching it once but it wasn't funny. I don't remember whether it was the writing or I just don't like watching anything with Bush in it, even a parody.

9. in 2000 there was a salon tabletalk thread about the couple
some posters said they'd seen an interview with mother and wife and B Walters (?) in which L told a story in which the underlying message was: W totally freaks when corrected; she didn't totally praise what he had done and he deliberately had a near wreck

it was stated/implied that W's mother was there to make sure no truth was told

11. It's moot, because she does not love him.
How could anyone love the POS. I think his family looks at him as kind of a curiosity. They all know he is deeply flawed, that this born again stuff is hype, that he has never accomplished anything on his own, and that he must be controlled before he does something to start WW IIII and end the world.
