El Paso Times endorses the Fool
Looks like they think Bush's war is Good for El Paso's economy. Pathetic endorsement.

Vote for Bush
President best choice for El Paso's future

Choices are not well-defined in this year's presidential race.

The Democrats have failed to present a candidate as strong as Democrats -- indeed, all Americans -- deserve. Sen. John Kerry has not presented a cohesive, workable plan in many areas, ranging from the war in Iraq to reducing the deficit. His plans seem more wishful than substantive.

For his part, President George W. Bush has presided over a ballooning deficit and a war in Iraq that has become bogged down in increasing violence with no exit strategy in sight.

The choice is a difficult one, but a choice must be made. The El Paso Times recommends that President George W. Bush should be re-elected.

One salient reason for this recommendation, made during one of the most divisive presidential campaigns in memory, is that we feel El Paso will derive more benefit from Bush remaining in the White House than having Kerry assume the office:

Fort Bliss is and must continue to be a major focus for El Paso. The military base is as crucial to El Paso's economy and economic future as it is to the defense posture of the country and the Free World. The current administration's policies and attitudes about Base Realignment and Closure, the reassignment of additional troops to Fort Bliss and the infusion of federal money the base has received are important. That must continue, and it's not clear that would happen under Kerry, who has suggested delaying BRAC.

2. Just like a Republican
Only thinking of what's best for them. Screw the rest of the world.

Ft Bliss is evidently the end of their universe in El Paso.

5. What a load of horseshit!
It never occurs to them that maybe, just maybe, attracting some other types of industries (and therefore employment opportunities) to their area would be a better solution?

6. The EP Times has a long tradition of stupidity
They defended Nixon right up to the final day. One of the worst papers in the country. :puke:

7. #1 right-wing credo: "Screw the greater good, get what's good for YOU!"
This is the same horseshit that "liberal Democrat" Sumner Redstone of Viacom (CBS et al) gave for backing * -- "He's good for Viacom, etc."

Such a comfort to know that so many will sell out their principles and flush their knowledge of doing what's right for the greater good of all.

8. OMG. Sell America down the river so that Fort Bliss might get
more support from the Republicans. That's the weakest newspaper endorsement I've ever seen. That's about like a chef offering a dead possum as the entre and saying it's better than .........
