Rise Of The Righteous Army

CBS) Evangelical Christians form one of the most potent forces in American politics and society. They are people who place their faith, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, above everything else in their lives and hope to spread that Gospel to the world.

An estimated 70 million Americans call themselves evangelicals, and their beliefs have already reshaped American politics. In the last election, 40 percent of the votes for George W. Bush came from their ranks, and now those beliefs are beginning to reshape the culture as well -- thanks to a group of best-selling novels known as the “Left Behind” series.

If you want to understand the people behind this political and cultural shift, the place to begin is in church. Correspondent Morley Safer reports.
”I don't think the media has really caught on to what's been going on in the last 30 years or so in America. An enormous number of people have come to faith in Christ and consider themselves evangelical Christians. And these are people that are buying, reading and distributing our books,” says Rev. Tim LaHaye.

2. I hear the books are poorly written
A friend of mine, a conservative, very religious Christian, said he read one of the books and found the dialogue to be trite and the prose to be corny. He stopped after one book.

4. I am so glad that this is getting more attention.
Having known about the overall agenda for several years, I used to worry because it does not get much attention. It has been so out of the limelight that it was almost covert.

I think there is a culture shock here in that everyday folks may not be able to believe that something like this is already prevelent in America. It certainly puts a new light on *'s "Faith-based Initiative".

These folks pretty much brought you the Dubya while you slept. The most frightening feature of their agenda is an American Theocracy and Mosaic Law.

Here are some links to go along with that.

6. these poor people were spanking the religious monkey
when they got Bush in office. They've been believing and praying for Armagedon to hit for over 30 years and as I recall, they targeted to be about now. So you can see why so many jumped on board the "crusade" to get into the axis of evil and get Sadaam even though he didn't do 9-11.

The fools don't realize that Bush is closer to the description of the anti-Christ then anyone else besides Hitler.

These are the type of people who don't care about the environment or world war III because they believe they won't be here once it starts to fall apart, they will be raptured.

And the really pathetic part is that they believe George Weasel Bush prays, reads the bible and goes to church on a regular basis and lives like a "Christian" lives. The whole What Would Jesus Do? thing. Go figure. Karl Rove will lie to Christians when he markets his messiah which really makes me wonder if he even has a soul himself.

7. No, the really pathetic part...
...is that they, their enemies, and the media all take at face value the notion that they represent "Christianity," when in fact they are against everything the Christian faith stands for. In fact, they far more closely resemble those among the Pharisees who opposed Jesus (and who came in for some of the most withering criticism from him..."whitewashed tombs" being a good example), than those who were Christ's followers. (Please note that this criticism was and is being directed against some of the Pharisees of that time, not the entire Pharisaical movement that later gave rise to Rabbinic Judaism, many of whose members were people of deep spiritual insight.)

The time has come to declare that these so-called fundamentalist "Christians" are not Christians at all, but members of a pseudo-Christian CULT. (And, yes, I use that term with full accuracy...and also full knowledge that it's a word that drives them nuts.)

8. Wait...wait...I'm confused.

Surely this couldn't be the very same Tim LaHaye who is a major supporter of the "Rev." Sun Myung Moon, former South Korean CIA agent and recently proclaimed new Messiah, who has declared himself to be greater than Jesus Christ and was recently crowned as such in our very own US Senate chambers? THAT Tim LaHaye??

Well, tra-la-la. That's certainly one for Ripley, isn't it?

<Edited to add "CIA"

11. LEFT BEHIND uses mind control techniques. LaHaye has a long alliance with
RevMoon. LaHaye received BIG BUCKS from Moon which funded his political projects.

And don't be fooled. LaHaye's works are ALL POLITICAL, not religious. They use religion to get the foolish sheep to ACCEPT a nuclear event as fulfillment of prophecy.
