AP Wire Story includes racial profile of crowd at Edwards rally

The following sentence in an AP wire story really jumped out at me:

Isn't is fascinating that of all the people in the audience, the person singled out by "Grand AP Imperial Wizard" Liz Sidoti just happened to have dreadlocks? On the bright side, the story didn't include references to fried chicken and watermelons, or of black youths whistling as white women walked by.

I'm curious -- has any AP wire story made reference to the fact that the audiences for Bush are almost entirely white?

1. I think you're being overly sensitive on this one..

Unless you find that the diversity at the gathering(including people with dreadlocks) is a bad thing. Being that it is in the Wash Post I will give them the benefit of doubt.

That AP writer did go out of her way with the adjectives, didn't she?

Does she say "mostly white" or "all white" at * rallies?

6. I refuse to register at the WaPo site.

Was anything of substance written about Edwards' message, or was it simply a coded racist hatchet job as it appears?

Can you imagine the following appearing in an article about a chimp rally?

A 100% racist, white crowd greeted the President
today as he campaigned before carefully screened
Republicans who had been required to sign loyalty
oaths. A group of blond, blue-eyed children from
the segregated white only Fundamentalist Christian
Academy sang God Bless the U.S.A.. Introduced by
a local official who is active in the klan, the
President devoted much of his address to the
problem of welfare fraud and abuse.....
