Go to church the next two Sundays
To pray for Kerry, but also to pick up a bulletin. And take note of any partisan activity.

If, God forbid, the worst happens, the battle will move to new fronts. One front will be to force a hard look at the tax free status of partisan churches. We will need evidence and documentation for the IRS.

Another front will be to restore the fairness doctrine. I'm tired of MY spectrum being used to promote the Republican party.

1. I've thought about it several times in the past few weeks. But, I just
don't know if I can stomach it. You're right, though, I probably should try. Just to see how bad it is.

3. There are many different types of churches...
...and not all of them are fronts for the Republican party.

4. I'm Catholic
I pray and light a candle for Kerry every week. A couple of weeks ago the bulletin stated, that if you don't vote it's a mortal sin, and then mentioned "life" etc. This week we got something from the Bishops, listing 10 things you should keep in mind when you vote. I already voted for Kerry.

5. It's not a mortal sin
if you don't vote. It's not even a venial sin. Why some church feels the need to lie about not doing one's civic duty and then attach the onus of mortal sin to it makes me wonder about your pastor and his intentions.

7. I'm Catholic, too, and angry with people who are trying to tell Catholics

how to vote and not being honest about what the Vatican has said in regard to the morality of a Catholic voting for a pro-choice politician.

An excellent site is

http://www.votingcatholic.org

You can take a quiz there to see how much your beliefs agree with positions of Bush*, Kerry, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

I just revisited the site and it's expanded greatly since last week.

Best of all, they now have a voter guide you can download and print.
