No Flu shots = dead seniors/sick people = reduction of S.S. rolls.... |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 04:30 PM by henslee
This administration knew there were no flu shots yet did nothing. (on edit) If not deliberately, they are knowingly culling the herd by their apparent ineptitude. What do "mythical" security moms think now?

In San Francisco, a 79 year old lady collapsed from exhaustion and died from injuries she sustained in the fall. I often miss my mother who passed on at 71 four years ago, but when see things like this I think she's probably better off.

9. There's one incredible benefit to this flu debacle |
|
Well actually two. There is no way for Bush to spin his way out of this one.
Second, it is not going to be only a one day news story. This is going to hang in the headlines almost daily because more and more stories will come out about sickness, people being turned away, people being furious, writing papers, calling.
It's just not going to go away all the way to the election. In fact, it's going to get worse. How many times do you get lucky like that.
Who knew the flu would eventually cure the nation of the disease in the White House. Almost too good to be true.

What hyperboilic lunacy. If we lose, its gonna be because of insanity like this being put forth as real political discourse. Watch the middle just walk away.

deliberate slaughter... thats how its going to be painted by the right and with good reason. I disagree with practically everything W has done, but accusing them of killing our older citizens makes about as much sense a accusing them of eating babies...

Could have been accidental. So the times that others were cut when going after Bush. When they got the feed back, the word vaccine was not mentioned.

26. Rethugs Misleading on Flu Shot/Tort Reform |
|
Saw some Rethugs on the Sunday TV shows claiming Kerry didn't vote on a tort reform bill so he caused the flu shot problem.
Besides the obvious logical leap, this ignores the truth that VACCINE MAKERS ARE PROTECTED FROM CLAIMS BY A FEDERAL LAW:
As a trade off over the polio vaccine, in 1986 Congress gave vaccine manufacturers almost complete immunity from lawsuits. The program has been in effect since 1988.
Any action against a vaccine manufacturer is pre-empted by the claims procedure set forth in the National Vaccine Compensation Act. Claimants have only three years to submit a claim for vaccination injury, and only two years to file a claim if death results.
The Department of Justice defends the claims for the government, & here's what they say about the program:
Another positive result of the program is that costly litigation against drug manufacturers and health care professionals who administer vaccines has virtually ceased. Although an individual who is dissatisfied with the Court’s final judgment can reject it and file a lawsuit in state or federal court, very few lawsuits have been filed since the program began. The supply of vaccines in the U.S. has been stabilized, and the development of new vaccines has markedly increased.

31. No such thing. It explains the behavior of incompetents, at best. |
|
NAZIs, most likely.
Read what the BFEE turd Grover Norquist had to say regarding the deaths of "The Greatest Generation," in reply to the question "Is the Democratic Party coming to an end?":
"Yes, because in addition their demographic base is shrinking. Each year, 2 million people who fought in the Second World War and lived through the Great Depression die. This generation has been an exeception in American history, because it has defended anti-American policies. They voted for the creation of the welfare state and obligatory military service. They are the base of the Democratic Party. And they are dying. And, at the same time, all the time more Americans have stocks. That makes them defend the interests of business, because it is their own interest. Because of that, it's impossible to bring to the fore policies of social hate, of class warfare."
BTW: A hearty welcome to DU, FatMonkeySam! Where ya been?

38. This statement was made by "senior aide" to Bush. |
|
Read it, and then talk about what we are saying. This is from the Suskind article in the NYT magazine today.
SNIP.."In the summer of 2002, after I had written an article in Esquire that the White House didn't like about Bush's former communications director, Karen Hughes, I had a meeting with a senior adviser to Bush. He expressed the White House's displeasure, and then he told me something that at the time I didn't fully comprehend -- but which I now believe gets to the very heart of the Bush presidency.
The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''
I doubt you can read that and not think this group capable of anything.

Some of the efforts here seem to be over the top.
I would ask all concerned to look at this rather than as a conspiracy, more like a complete breakdown of a system that has run amuck because of pretty poor planning and quality control.
Than you for your understanding.
