Another broken Bush promise...
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 04:40 PM by Nicholas_J
Doe anyone remember when he was running againt Gore, in opposition to Gore's plans for national heath, that BUsh's solution was similar to the one he is promising now...Tax credits (either 1900 or 2300 dollars) for people to buy their own insurance. Gore argued that this sum would not be sufficient for anyone to buy insurance. Of course when Bush won , his "medical saving accounts plan" which favors only the rich, was passed, but all mention of tax credits vanished immediately.

I have always wondered why the Kerry campaign has not picked up on this failed promise

An article and link comparing Gore and Bush's health care plans:

Bush proposes an annual refundable tax credit to uninsured
workers worth up to $1,000 per individual and $2,000 per
family to cover up to 90 percent of the health insurance
premiums for individuals earning $15,000 and families
earning $30,000 or less, with the credit decreasing to a
minimum of 30 percent of premium costs for individuals
earning $25,000 and families earning $50,000.
