and as soon as Gallop starts seeing other polls start indicating that the gap is closing, they do another one of their Republican heavy polls. Gallop has not changes its polling parameters since the beginning of this season, and this poll, like all its others, is polling 9 percent more Republicans that Democrats (polls 39 percent Republicans, and 30 percent Democrats.) It you were to use the averaging techniques that Gallop uses and simply make the polling percentages equal this would increase Kerrys numbers by 9 point putting him one point ahead of Bush.
Gallop is insisting that 25 percent more Republicans will vote this year than Democrats and this is how they arrive at their figures.
This is more propaganda by the Bush friendly Gallop organization in order to create a sense of dismay in Democrats and to try to sway undecided voters to vote for whoever seems to be ahead.
Gallop also did the ABC polls for the debates adn of couse came up with the closest figures for the debates with Kerry pulling 42 percent and Bush 41 percent in the last debate. ABC at least finally admitted that these polls oversampled Republicans by the 9 points because of the relentless criticism of Gallops methodology.
On CNN several weeks ago, someone representing the Democrats nailed Paula Zahn by openly pointing out this discrepancy in the number of REpublicans polled.
