I wore my Kerry/Edwards t-shirt to the local Wally World and a man in his late sixties asked where I had gotten it. He also asked if I knew why the Democratic campaign office in Union had closed. Perhaps Kerry has prematurely abandoned Missouri?

1. I don't know if he has given up in Missouri, but might be putting |
|
all his energies into the states he has the best chance..after all it is the electoral votes that count.

8. About Walmart...I despise them but am essentially forced to go there some |
|
times. I live 6 miles from one and it's either shop there or make an 80 mile roundtrip to go to another store...they moved in and ran the only other grocery (Homeland) out of business. (And of course several other small businesses too) - They have a virtual monopoly in this area and I suspect it's not a unique situation, unfortunately. :grr:

4. I try to carry extra pins to give to people who seem receptive |

While Wally-World may be hideous, some of us who live in rural areas do not have that much of a choice.
Besides, why not walk through and campaign where you might do some good?

6. ATTENTION SWING STATES |
|
That Kerry has "pulled out" of:
Even if the campaign has withdrawn financial support, there is likely a devoted grass roots movement. Ask questions, network, find out who the loyal Dem contacts and grass roots supporters are.
I say this because I live in TEXAS and discovered this weekend that there is an extensive GRASS ROOTS effort in the president's back yard. When I went to replace the Kerry signs that were stolen the night of the debate, the local party HQ was out, but someone there directed me toward a woman who was making signs at her home and selling them at her cost ($2). When I got there, someone remarked that there are many people here in Fort Worth doing things on the grass roots level, beyond the radar of even the local party organization. She had about 10 people making signs in her driveway, and a steady stream of people stopping to buy them. It was a kind of "if you build it, they will come" moment.
If we are this well involved here in Texas, I am SURE there are more comprehensive efforts in swing states.
Grass roots will WIN this election for Kerry; if you can't get signs, buttons, etc., from the official organizations, talk to your Dem friends and find out who else can provide them, because they are definitely out there.
HOPE IS ON THE WAY!!!
Tally ho!
