CBC News: Poll suggests Kerry has lead in swing states
Last Updated Sun, 17 Oct 2004 17:56:28 EDT

COLUMBUS, OHIO - John Kerry appealed to African-American voters on Sunday, as he pushed ahead with his campaign to unseat George W. Bush.

Kerry promised the voters, many of whom feel the Republicans are trying to keep them off the voter lists, "We're not going to let this be just a repeat of 2000. We're not going to see a million African-Americans deprived of their votes in America," he said.

With just 16 days to go until the vote, the race couldn't be tighter.

Polls suggest a dead heat. Even Republican organizers concede the Democratic senator has benefited from his performance in the three presidential debates.

And a Washington Post poll shows Kerry with a significant lead in important states that could decide the outcome of the election. The poll found Kerry held a 53 per cent to 43 per cent lead among likely voters in 13 such states.

I hadn't read your italics and the line above!

I think the World is going to help us win this in their own way!

2. This may be one of THE most overlooked stories on DU.
The lead in the swing states is HUGE. If it holds, we win, plain and simple. No matter what happens with the popular vote.

What's more.. this lead will probably get bigger as undecideds finally fall into our column.

5. It would almost be worth the discord...
...to see the Republican heads explode if Kerry won the Electoral but not the popular.

4. Kick. I think we're in bizarro world with JK starting to kick ass in the
big Kahuna states and these polls like CNN/Gallup showing shrubya "pulling away". Um, yeah.

10. Gallup's boss is a big GOP donor, they oversample Repugs big time

and they can kiss my Democratic ass.

They have about as much credibility as the swift liars, sin clair, and faux news.

7. that "poll result" seems kinda useless because
it does not identify the states at all. I went to washington post site and found no such poll article or suggestion. If it is there I could not find it.
