Bush up by 4 in Colorado - poll out today |
|
Denver News4 poll. It was tied at 44-44 a couple of weeks ago. Reason for Bush move, they cite Repubs are coming home to Bush.

3. If the poll is not skewed in favor of GOP as some are |
|
and it is 46-42, it is still very very close. Most undeclared voters tend to vote for the challenger(typically 3-1). If Bush is not above 48 he is not even close to safe and there is still hope.

An accurate Colorado poll SHOULD sample more republicans than Democrats because Colorado has more registered Republicans than Democrats.

nonaffiliated voters.
That third percentage tends to keep things interesting, especially now.

41. regardless of the dem-gop ratio, oversampling gopers will skew a poll |
|
No matter if there are more gopers if they are over-represented it will bias the poll in the gopers favor. People do like to vote for a winner. The gop is doing many patently illegally things to try to skew this election, why would they hesitate to try to influence polling agencies to lean the polls slightly, and to most citizens, imperceptibly toward their favor?

6. Don't believe everything you read |
|
Remember, this is designed to suppress the vote and Denver News4 poll sounds like a news station. Besides, 48-44 leaves 8%. Factor in the margin of error (if they even gave who was polled) and this poll means.............Nothing.
"Coming home to Bush" is a Repug talking point that the media desperately wants to spread.

You got that right.
If even a small percentage of the "respectable wing" of the Republican Party realizes that this is their moment to take back control (of the Party), the neo-cons are toast.

And not to be picky. But I like this better:
"It's like waking up and finding out that you have been turned into a cockroach -- and being just 'fine' (maybe 'happy') with it."
I think that, perhaps, a few people might escape your meaning. And I really like the image -- it fits so well -- as would "dung-beetle".
And, of course, you are free to suggest further refinements.
We are, I believe, talking about "respectable" Republicans and traditional (Republican) conservatives waking up to see what their Party has become.
And let me toss another thing out -- it is a lot easier to win with an incumbent. Is there an issue with the President's health? Cheney's?
You have to put yourself in the other guy's "shoes". -- For the neo-cons, step one would be to throw out anything resembling a scruple... And guess who isn't on the "list". (But no -- not really.)

25. A News 4 poll and fifty cents... |
|
... will get you a cup of bad coffee.
Denver's local broadcast outlets --especially 9 News-- are shameless Bush whores who parrot whatever scripts are handed down to them. Most polls that we see around here in the Post and elsewhere come from Survey-USA, Mason-Dixon and other dubious outifts. A recent poll in the papers had Bush way ahead, but the internals were all over the place.

That's all. It doesn't mean Kerry will lose Colorado. But keep in mind there are almost 200,000 more Repubs than Dems in Colorado. That's a very difficult mountain to climb.

The right wingers are terrified of losing Colorado.
They're going to pull out all of the stops here. It is already beginning.
Edit: There's also a Senate seat they're going to lose here.

|
Sure, it's not as close as it was a few weeks ago, but this is still about half of what he won it by in '00.
CO has been a republican state for the most part. Clinton won it in '92 by a small margin and that too Perot took a huge % of the vote then.
I wouldn't give up completely but I think it would be very tough for dems to take CO. Hopefully dems and indies will come out in full force...and I doubt Nader will have a huge impact this time.

My informal survey when I ventured to GOP stronghold of Colorado Springs today and its surburbs shows FAR less B/C signs in cars and in the yard. Sure, there's tons of Coors signs, but the dearth of the B/C signs are showing me that they aren't liking * here. More K/E signs on Manitou Springs area.
