Why I fight

In 2000, I was useless and I did next to nothing. I handed out a few flyers and gave a few dollars. This time I've raised 60 times more $$ for Kerry as I did for Gore in 2000. I'm going to FLA, which will probably cost me at least $3,000 in lost income and expenses, and I've convinced others to go. I do the e-mails and related stuff here and on other sites. I provide some useful information to the campaign from sympathizers. I do what I can and then some.

I know 4 families with people in Iraq. One came home seriously wounded - in part because his kevlar was too short; I saw and listened to his mother's pain and it pained me. Two others came home to psych treatment because they saw so much - one did two tours and the other did one very long tour (15 months).

You bet I'm motivated. Many like me are answering the clarion call -we reject the empire of one. We're everywhere - in bars, restaurants, stores, offices, factories, farms - all across this great land. We're even in the hallowed halls of power - you'd be surprised who is disaffected in NY and DC and Boston and Seattle and LA and a million other places. We spend our time, money and energy this way because we know this election is truly vital this time; our brothers and sisters, friends and countrymen are dying quickly in Iraq and slowly here, while our leaders are faint of heart and fraught with hubris.

They can bury ballots, interrupt transmissions, Jim Crow about technicalities and try to intimidate us. We won't quit. We won't give in. We won't capitulate. It's our flag and our country too. Now let's make them give it back.

I street canvass the low income people who live in the poverty ravaged community just north of downtown called Over-the Rhine.

7. I actually think we need to use off the wall GOTV in the innercity

This is why I am utilizing poor man's advertising, ie. glueing and stapling antiBush flyers to metal or wood utility poles on high foot traffic street corners and in front of bus stops in the innercity.
