Non-swing state DU'ers what do you think about this?
http://votepair.org/index.php

Defeat George Bush
Support the critical voice of third parties
Build a progressive majority

You can make your vote for president count by joining the national VotePair campaign and using your vote to elect Kerry-Edwards while supporting the role of progressive third-party candidates. As we learned in 2000, a few hundred votes in the right states can make all the difference in the world--and the whole world is watching now.

In vote-pairing, swing-state progressives whose first instinct might have been to vote for Nader, Cobb or Badnarik are paired with Democrats (and others whose first choice for President is Kerry) in 'safe' states where either Bush or Kerry has a decisive lead. Paired voters can communicate with each other and decide to vote strategically: swing-state participants for Kerry and safe-state participants for Nader, Cobb or Badnarik. As a result, the paired voters' support for progressive third parties is recorded in the popular vote and their preference for Kerry over Bush finds voice in the Electoral College.

Defeating Bush means redirecting the current Administration's aggressive unilateral foreign policy, protecting the environment and women's right to choose, and keeping Bush from stacking the Supreme Court and federal courts with right-wing judges like Justices Scalia and Thomas.

Together, we can vote strategically to build a progressive majority and prevent another disastrous Bush presidency.
Pair Your Vote

In which state are you registered to vote?

4. How do you know your vote isn't needed? What if the polls are wrong?
What if the person you 'trade' votes with doesn't live up to the agreement?

12. and you would be
wrong. Not thai I'm for this, but I'm glad to say that my state is not a swing state. It's solidly pro-Kerry. Vermonters are sensible folk. Bernie will win with ease, as will Pat Leahy. No way we go for the repulsive little shrub.

7. I live in IL and I am voting for Kerry.
No ifs, ands, or buts. This election is too crucial and there is too much room for fraud to do otherwise. The time to build up a third party is directly after Kerry's inauguration.

8. Nader
lost any respect I may have had for him ages ago. Why would I want to encourage his continued invasion into the process by trading my vote? I do not want Nader to be president - ever, no matter what. You can buy a "spoiler" T shirt on his damn website. Like it's something someone would actually want to advertize. That tells me all I need to know.

I'm voting for Kerry because I WANT HIM TO BE PRESIDENT! I am not flushing my vote to make some statement. F*ck that.

9. I think it's too risky
We need to convince every progressive voter everywhere to vote for Kerry. Even Chomsky has endorsed Kerry (well sort of). This is too important an election to experiment with.

We also need to get the message out that everyone must show up to vote even in "safe" states. If the worst happens (it won't) and they manage to win EV, a popular vote win for Kerry will force everyone to look into the electoral college system.

.. and Nader is NOT running for any progressive third party. He is running for himself.

10. I've got some nice "waterside" resort property to sell you as well....
It's a crock. Your vote is YOUR vote. You can't trade it, bargain with it, or use it like some kind of currency.

11. I agree with everyone else.
This election is too important. Every single vote is needed for Kerry-Edwards. I did vote-swap with a Minnesota man in 2000. I believe he was sincere, and he knew I was. I believe I played a small part in helping Gore take Minnesota. I wouldn't even consider it this year.

The pollsters really don't know what is going to happen this year. There are so many first-time voters, so many people who use cell-phones and can't be reached for polls.

We need every vote and every single person on the progressive side absolutely must vote for the Kerry ticket. Lives are on the line.
