lol. I mean come on people. Drudge? He is enemy number 1. Sure his page can be entertaning the way he sensationalizes everything to comedic lenghts, but not now. Not during a race this important.

3. There are two types of Drudge stories |
|
real stories he just picks off the net (which is about 97% of what he posts) and then his "exclusives", which are usually either wild exaggerations or outright lies.
However, I see nothing wrong with reporting what he's saying - like it or not, he can drive a news cycle.

5. Yes...no Drudge "exclusives" or op-ed pieces. |
|
Or "WorldNetDaily" or that Union-something POS.
And any "hundredpercenter" blog shit, which for some reason shows up as news under google....that should be a ban and a paddywack.

He's full of shit, but we have to keep up on what he's saying because millions of people read the report and he really does have influence.

|
all the difference, and the way in which he tells/places them.
you're right about him driving a news cycle, but that's certainly not a reason folks should be going there or reporting his shit here.
he distorts, no matter who or what he links to -- and his posts follow the rnc talking points succintly.
sorry, but anyone who doesn't see drudge is clearly the dem's enemy, is a fool.

Drudge is free to peddle his bullshit. What the poster is suggesting is that, on this PRIVATE board in which there is no "equal time" requirement, nothing from that horseshit peddler should be given an ounce of notice.
By the way, welcome to DU and why do you think Drudge presents a "different viewpoint" as opposed to just making shit up?

Thank you for the welcome.
To answer your question, I have lurked here for awhile, mostly informative lurking, but lurking nonetheless. However, during that time, I have constantly noticed that anytime someone presents a differing opinion or viewpoint, 9 times out of 10, the response involves "ban", "freeper", or various namecalling, usually using profanity or explicitives.
Just my $.02

The original thread was about whether DU should 'ban' anyone (a member) that posts anything from Drudge. Let's examine this: so far I have been 'taught' that this is a 'private site and there is no such thing as the first amendment here', been called a 'freeper', yelled at by you, etc. This was a post by one DU member wanting to ban other DU'ers for posting material from a certain website. It was not my post.
Does that sound like how you want others to see you, this site, and your views (silencing others is certainly not my views)?

This is a private forum, freeper. There is no 1st amendment right. The first amendment concerns the GOVERNMENT.
On a private forum you can do what you want. \

7. TWICE I have posted TO Drudge from HERE (DU) and seen the antiBush |
|
stories played there
Drudge is a shill for the pro-likud Israeli neocon right but he is also willing to spill dirt on ANYONE for money.
Read his National Press Club speech on the POWER of the internet and guys like him.
I admire him for that despite his spin and his sleaze.
But CNN is no damn bettrer and may, in fact, be worse because THEY claim objectivity and Drudge only claims SCOOPS.

12. I suspect Drudge is coming upo with something good vs Bush |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 08:16 PM by seventhson
given the relative newbies bashing him and telling us we should not link stories emerging there.
I agree he deserves criticism and even a warning if you poost 'em --- but nobody can deny his site is influential and breaks stories none of us have seen (Chris Reeves' death comes to mind) and that are true.
He is admirable even WITH his disgusting spin for the Bushzis.
I was burned badly by Drudge at least once -- but I still think his site is exceptional in terms of breaking stories we need to know about AND he has posted stories I sent him which HURT Bush.

Once in a while he is the first to report something that is of great interest to us.
For example: He was the first to report the reaction to Fahrenheit 9/11 at the Cannes Film Festival, along with descriptions of the 20-minute standing ovation.
Most of the time Drudge is just junk. But not always.

22. I have submitted anti-bush story links to Drudge |
|
that were reported here and he has placed them on the front page. I feel that Drudge will report what he sees Pro-Bush, Pro-Kerry or whatever. Most the the news he reports, including his exclusives, are accurate. Sometimes they are excerpts from books or other web pages but the source is always noted. As previously expressed in this thread, he reports whatever will cause the most commotion. His current headline is about Dems collecting ballots in Florida and how it goes against Florida law.
Yes, I do cringe when I read an anti-Kerry story on his site, but I have rarely found it to be inaccurate. Sometimes, misleading, but not inaccurate.
