I was just granted a leave of absence from work thru 11/3- the campaign

Fellow DUers:

I will not be here much from here until the election. I was granted a leave of absence through 11/3. I did some soul-searching and decided this is just too damn important. Not just the BIG race, but a huge state race I have been working hard on. I will be working on the campaign full time and then some. I called Mr. Moonbeam and asked him how he felt about not seeing me much until after election day and he said "do what you have to do."

I was given a list of 300 homes in my precinct to canvass. I have tons of literature and materials. For the state races, we have THREE debates coming up (first one is tomorrow). When I am not block-walking, I will be phone-banking and preparing mailers at the HQ for this state race (State House of Representatives).

We push Kerry pretty hard, too, and encourage people to vote a straight Dem ticket. I'm seeing more and more Kerry signs pop up all over, it is freaking AMAZING. I haven't even read the forums, no time. I just wanted to check in one last time and let ya'll know what's going in here in the Dallas suburbs.

I have to know I did everything I possibly could. A tiny part of me just wants to rest, but I know I can't. Keep up the good work, DUers. Keep on top of the media, it's an important job.

And let's give it up for awesome neighbor STEVE for getting our waterfall up and running this weekend! The backyard is becoming more and more pleasant for this shindig.

We think we finally woke Steve up to what's going on (he who used to call the candidates dumb abd dumber-- I had him converted to Dean last year), so he may stop by for awhile. :-)

I can't afford to take any more time off, but I can't afford more to let this one slip away without me doing everything I can.

9. Dang, I forgot to add something

the woman running for state house has rented 20 conversion vans and I will be one of the drivers and on election day itself, we will be hauling people, 15 at a time, to their polling place. We'll have literature and encourage them to vote a straight Dem ticket, then we will drive them back home. She will be outside of the early voting place every single day all day long starting tomorrow (that's when early voting starts here).

We'll be running the vans from 7 am to 7 pm.

Then, maybe, on the third I can rest and be happy (fingers crossed).

Anyway I encourage everyone, if you haven't already, to contact your county or parish Dem party and see if they are doing something similar and volunteer to be a driver or a poll watcher or something.
