Citizen Thrills: Tokyo To Florida To GOTV
Terri MacMillan is co-chair of Democrats Abroad Japan and a former Dean Delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention

SNIP..."Sunshine and Alligators is a private, volunteer project of a group of Americans living abroad who will head to Florida at the end of this month and help to get out the vote. The effort started in Tokyo and has spread to the U.K. and beyond. Here in TKO, we're fundraising to rent cars and cellphones (and health insurance) online and at our Halloween event, "Bush is Scary, Vote for Kerry."

Some of us are staunch Deaniacs (including 3 Iowa Stormers and supporters). All are committed to getting John Kerry into the White House, for America's sake, and for the sake of the world. That means getting out the vote - because when the people vote, we win.

A note about what we've learned from Howard Dean and DFA, and how this came together: we are progressive people, including many new activists. We learned that powerful, fun progressive politics requires clear vision and goals, a reasonable amount of structure and discipline, and trusted servant-leadership.

Many thanks to Dean Dozen candidate Rob McKenna (Go Rob!), DFATampa, FCAN, and all who've been supporting the effort and spreading the word.

Help is on the way, because we have the power."
Terri MacMillan (Terri in Tokyo)
