Sorry if this has already been posted, but I must have missed it. Did I hear right on the radio this morning that Vladimir Putin said that although he doesn't want to influence the US election, that if Bush not re-elcted the situation and terrorism in Iraq will get worse? Dumb-ass! He's got enough problems of his own with terrorists killing children in schools to make such an idiotic remark about OUR election.

2. Putin has no influence |
|
over American voters. Most Americans still view Russia with a great deal of suspicion.
And Putin has fallen out of favor with Western financial elites (thus the demonization campaign begun against him in our media recently) when he began cracking down on the "oligarchs" because the oligarchs are some of the aforementioned elite's best clients. In some cases these oligarchs are just stalking horses for an attempt at Western domination of Russian energy resources.

3. This is actually an insult to Bush, |
|
although he's too dense to understand it. Like Ariel Sharon, Putin has discovered Bush's terror war has put U.S. foreign policy in a trap. No matter what Israel or Russia does, they can defend it by playing the terrorist card, and Bush folds every time. He has to, since his whole political world now revolves around terrorism. Put someone smarter in office, especially someone who hasn't backed themselves into a corner, as Bush has, and much of that leverage goes away.
They have another interest in keeping Bush around, of course. Bush is so disliked around the world that his friends are few, and as such, have more influence with him than if the president was on good terms with most of the rest of the world. That would end with Kerry. Of course, with a Kerry win, the loss of Putin and Sharon would be the world's gain.
