Kerry support in Hampton Roads, VA
Hi!
I just wanted to report that I was out over the weekend and I saw several cars with Kerry stickers out on the freeway. THEN we ended up getting off the freeway and going a back way (there was a back-up) and we came across this neighborhood in Chesapeake that had so many Kerry signs in their yards!!!!!!!!!!! I mean we saw several on one street and then turned the corner and more Kerry signs. It was a site to see instead of all those stupid W in 04 stickers. Anyway, just wanted to pass along that things are looking better in Virginia. :-) The volunteer coordinator told me that someone would be contacting me to get started calling people to offer them Kerry signs and ask if they would like to volunteer to help us during the final weeks. Anyway, I'm so hopeful that we might carry Virginia....

2. Yes
I believe that is considered the Deep Creek area. It was the exits before that draw bridge (we were driving from Suffolk area). The signs that I saw were in private yards. I don't remember seeing any Kerry signs along the streets though. I mostly saw Forbes signs on the busy intersections. One of the busy corners had a REALLY huge Forbes sign. I was thinking it would be nice to see a big Kerry sign there because there was quite a bit of traffic in there.

3. Kerry in Chesterfield
There is much more Dem activity in GOP stronghold Chesterfield county than I've seen in 20 years.

The GOP is concerned that over confidence will result in a lower turnout of their base. Therefore, they're talking about how close the race is here and how every vote counts. They fear Virginia is in play. Our job is to help them realize their fears.

4. Kerry signs all over Richmond and Henrico too.
It's encouraging! In the past every yard sign, every bumper sticker in this area was GOP, no matter who was running. Now it looks like at least half of them are Kerry signs -- even on Monument Avenue!!!

5. Saw a carload of Kerry signs in NC last week
I was very surprised when visiting my daughter in Goldsboro to see Kerry signs all up and down Route 70 in the cotton fields and on lawns all over the area, a fairly rural part of NC.

10. Glad to hear that about
Ghent area. I did some phone banking of a precinct in that area several weeks ago and I ended up with half the people that answered supported Bush and about half supporting Kerry. When I called the oceanfront area of VA BCH it was hard to find Kerry supporters but when I was down there a little over a week ago I did see a few Kerry signs out in the yards.

8. VA DUers, let's make a pact...
we will do everything we can to GET PEOPLE OUT TO VOTE!!! With enough turnout, we can turn VA blue and won't that just wreak havoc with all those electoral vote projections!!!

13. Great news "helpisontheway". Welcome to DU.
Just got called to be a 'poll watcher' and was canvassed yesterday. I'm in NOVA and I'd love to see Tidewater or Richmond match or beat our Kerry percentage. This is a great state and a Kerry win would make those elsewhere take real note.
