My 15 day pledge: I'm turning off all news channels.
This may be hard for me to do, since I watch the news several hours a day but
I'm really convinced that the news media is trying to spin this into a Shrun win.

I never really took much fact into all these polls, I've always said the only polls that matter are on Nov. 2. I do believe the DEMS will get out and vote and that Kerry will still win but I'm sick of all this bullshit the media has been saying lately.

I can't believe that "they're" saying how Shrub has taken a lead and that "Kerry has lost some steam". "They" better not even say that Kerry is slipping over "Mary Cheney" or this country is more fucked uo than I thought.

The other day some news channel said that "Shrub is like the Yankees. You can beat him but getting those last 6 outs are tough."
So what they're saying is that all Yankee fans are repukes. I've been a NY fan since the womb and I am not nor ever been a repuke.

I know in my heart that Kerry will win this election.
The next time I will watch the news is on Nov. 3 when all they can be talking about is how Kerry is president-elect.

Thanks for letting me rant.
Peace out
-Will

6. This is really like the first time I have let the media get to me
I don't know why but I can't watch anymore.
Maybe, I'm letting "them" win but I think it's best that I tune out.

7. I've been doing this since Bush won in 2000
Feeling so betrayed by mainstream media that I had placed so much faith in since as a 6th grader doing daily "current events" topics I have fired all major news coming into my home. I have not watched Peter Jennings the entire 2004 year and I used to be in awe of him.
I wish I knew a way I could email Peter Jennings and I had a reasonable certainty of him actually getting it. I would tell him flat out how he has sold his soul to General Electric (I think it is who owns ABC) for him saying and reporting what "they" want him to.
Ever since I heard Jennings give back Florida or I should say take it away from Gore after awarding it to him, I knew he was not the man of integrity I once thought he was. It is how I feel about all this folks that spend their talents trying to manipulate public opinion rather than being the "above board" news people they once were. I get the necessary headlines on the INTERNET and simply don't watch anything except the recent debates.

but I just can't do it on my own!
(i need a meeting)

I'm pretty sure, though, that we'll blow up the tv after Nov 3, or whenever the votes get counted.

13. Another point of view
I do think its important for some of us to continue to hold the media accountable as musch as possible. But its not for everybody. Certainly there are other things to do that may be more important depending on what state you are in and how much time you can spare.

24. ISince January 2001, only buy the Sunday NY Times...
...and then it's mostly for the ads and non-news portions of the paper.

I used to buy 3 newspapers a day: NY Times, Daily News and Newsday. When I lived in Philly, I read the Inquirer, Philly Daily News, and NY Times daily.

But I'm more informed than ever before. Now I read the wire service stories from Reuters, AP, AFP, etc. on Yahoo. Also, I visit Atrios, Salon, Daily Kos, Josh Marshall, DU and other sites regularly and follow links that pique my interest. I'm not only aware of what stories the right-wing propagandists (Faux, Washington Moonie Times, Drudge, etc.) and the so-called "liberal media" are pushing, but I'm also aware of what important stories they're ignoring. Finally, I'm also aware of which stories pushed by the right wing and/or the SCLM are BS.

22. I don't watch Fox or CNN. I'm about ready to quit MSNBC completely.
The Internet works OK, but much of the print media is biased too.

23. yeah I have tuned out myself....
....I am sick to death of the media trying to hand this damned election to Bush no matter what.I just can't believe there are people running around yelling about liberal media bias when its so clear that so many in the media are kissing up to Bush, distorting the truth for Bush, running fixed polls in favor of Bush....okay we all know this stuff.I admit its getting to me to,all this pro Bush anti Kerry stuff so I am tuning out as well.
