anybody here expect violence during elections? |
|
I'm not talking al Qaeda, I mean violence from Freepers intimidating voters, I'm talking violence from voters who registered, only to find out election day that their registration didn't go through or they are disenfranchised for some other bogus reason.
Expect the best, prepare for the worst.

1. I would expect steely silence in some polling lines considering the |
|
polarization right now, unless you are in an area where most people are all voting the same way.

2. I think we are likely to see some scuffles and some fists in |
|
certain precincts in Ohio and Florida where the Republicans have mandated voter intimidation.

No. Fear? Yeah.
I worry especially about inner city polling precincts in cities like Cleveland, Albuquerque, Pittsburgh and other major cities in swing states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. The shenanigans already have begun in Ohio and PA -- the GOP wants to move polling places in Pennsylvania; they've tried everything they can throw at keeping poor people from voting in Ohio, though most of the legal means they have, have failed. Do I think this necessarily precludes illegal means in Ohio? Absolutely not. Do I think illegal, or questionable, means could result in violence?
Unfortunately, I do. Hoping I'm wrong, but anybody who's doing any poll activism in swing states -- be prepared and be careful out there. I hope it doesn't happen, but the way it's shaping up, it could.
