74. Watching Gore tell the truth put our lying media in perspective.
Fact after fact after fact leads to the undeniable conclusion that Bush has lied to the American public, has used those lies to implement plans which have profoundly damaged America instead of helping it.

All the facts that Al Gore has mentioned are out there, waiting for real journalists to present them to the American people.

And yet the TV news media do nothing.

It's almost unbearable.

covering this very important reality based speech by Gore. But oh no! :grr:

104. Who sees this?
I bet not too many undecideds and persuadables are watching cspan.

I'm not optimistic that wonderful speeches like this get to the people that need to hear it. And relying on sound bites from the media at the end of the day is not enough

I'm a pessmist with respect to the media....I personally believe that, barring a major event, not many minds will be changed in the next two weeks because the discussion has already been framed. However, I'm an optimist for the election, believing that getting out the vote is the key and a lot of voters are pissed.

But if somehow speeches like Gore's could get the attention of undecideds in swing states maybe it would help enough. Cspan alone is not enough....

Great speech....tree falling in the forest though...mainstream media will make sure there's no one to hear it.

115. rock in pond makes ripple
gore gave a synonpsis of the bush administration that was damning and well supported by the facts.

its value is with us.

it is obvious that both political parties are monitoring the prime political sites on the internet for things to perculate to the surface of the american mass media.

what al gore just did was give the democrates "fighting words" in the rhetorical battle we face for the last two weeks of the campaign.

some might call it "raw meat" to the faithful, but the way gore took apart the bush modus operendi as a direct threat to america is the "jujitsu" the dear departed's 'dem strat' was refering to.

its clear that bush is the threat to us.... as i type kerry is just now pounding on the themes gore just did on cnn... co-ordinated? i fucking hope so.

Gore knocked Bush down from his phony God stilts and exposed his agenda as not divinely inspired, but driven by corporate and wealthy interests that harm the public good.

Oh, what could have been...what a different country we'd have today if this was our president. I love this guy.

120. Just saw this blisteringly incredible speech on c-span3
WHAT a speech. I'm still completely blown away.

Gore told the absolute truth about this administration. Every single thing he said was 110% on the money. He just built and built this incredibly damning case, and slammed home the summary with a double exclamation point: That this administration is unparalled in US history for its combination of incompetence and dishonesty.

Thanks to an ideologically-based "certitude" promoted by cronies and those courting influence and ways to avoid meddlesome regulation, in a marriage of convenience with moneyed social rightists and other special interests, what is spun as "simply spoken conviction" is in fact an expression of the unwillingness of Bush and his administration to accept accountability, admit mistakes, consider alternatives, or listen to experts and allies. It is the result of shallow or non-existent analysis of the facts. It is the result of pre-determined conclusions which are frequently advantageous for his supporters, and contrary to the public good or even reality.

BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT. Do what you have to in order to see this speech. At the very least, read the transcript. When you do, you will likely agree that we were

SO FUGGING ROBBED IN 2000!!!!
