CNBC Powerpoll: "Should Social Security be Privatized?"
Currently 50/50

http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/CNBCTV/Promos/P97426.asp

Most importantly, email your comments on Soc Sec privatization to:

powerlunch@cnbc.com

My comment: "The Bush deficits have mortgaged America's future and have jeopardized a vital program that could have remained solvent well into the century with even anemic economic growth. Privatization would be a boon to Wall Street but a disaster for the aging. America needs to keeps its promises to its senior citizens."

8. Sure -- ask this on CNBC and you can predict the answer you'll get
Ask it during a 'Matlock' rerun, and I bet you get a whole different answer.

from the coked out day traders and robber barons that watch CNBC with a privatization plan. Brilliant!

Kerry noted that a CBO study of Bush's scam shows that seniors could have their Social Security checks CUT by $500/month.

Actually, Bush's scam has a double whammy. With the huge cut in benefits, younger people would press for KILLING social security.

The real beneficiaries of Bush's scam are the rich, the Wall Street bos, and business owners and CEOs who wouldn't have to pay FICA tax on their employees.

Bush is trying to STEAL our retirement money

15. Keep in Mind the Audience
These responses are from people who browse the Money portion of MSN. Presumably 90% of them are investors. And it's still leaning slightly against privatization. As it should.

22. A better question would be, "should social security be stolen?"
Back in the 80s, Greenspan was part of the project to "save" social security, which was done by increasing the withholding to create a surplus which would allow the fund to remain solvent when the babyboomers started retiring. The money is gone; Bush gave it to his corrupt, rich friends. Boy, talk about class warfare.

Stealing pension funds is a favorite republican crime family value.

28. Thanks for the good participation, y'all. I'm sure we gave the CNBC-
hypnotized traders some good stuff to think about.

DU kicks ass. As soon as the campaign is over and I have some money again that I'm not throwing at the Democrats, I'm going to buy my friends and me some DU t-shirts.

We are the patriots.
