3. Look. Here's the essential fact of these
Not a singe paper which endoresed Gore in 2000 has switched to Bush, while at least 9 Bush 2000 papers are endorsing Kerry, and 2 Bush 2000s have declined to endorse either.

4. Editor and Publisher carries a daily endorsement tally

as of this morning: Kerry 45, Bush 30 newspaper endorsements, with Kerry getting many more large-circulation papers.

7. Just cancelled my Chicago Tribune subscription
After stewing over their endorsement yesterday I decided to call them and cancel my subscription this morning. The Chicago Tribune always endorses the republican candidate for president but their contention that Bush will make us safer and considering the stakes in this election I could just not continue to support this newspaper and this kind of thinking with my money.

The lady in the subscription department probably wasn't that interested in my reasons why I was cancelling but she did tell me that her and her entire family are voting for Kerry. She also told me that they had received quite a few cancellation calls so far this morning.

I find it fascinating that Chicago votes 80% for Democrats but both daily newspapers are righ-wing Bush supporters. Ironically, the suburban Chicago newspaper, The Daily Herald, caters to the mostly republican voting northern suburbs but they have endorsed John Kerry.

In any event, looks like i'm going to get a subscription to the New York Times. I'll just have to sacrafice my local sports news :)
