3. You can vote now in California!
Go to your County registrar and vote. If not that, at least vote early in the day. Save the GOTV voters a phone call.

Where can I vote early?

Has it started yet?

I wish I could go back to NM also to help Kerry again.

Are you with the LCV or with the DNC?

It starts today, goes through the 29th. Any registered voter may vote at any early voting location in your county.

8. I'm in Houston and it ain't gonna' happen
Sorry. I have another theory...all the Dems are so suspicious of bs happening on election day that the dems are getting out early to vote. That, at least, is my plan. I'm in DeCay's district and don't trust ANYTHING going on around here.

By the way (being the newbie that I am) can someone explain what GOTV means?

10. Sure, it's Get Out The Vote
In other words, motivate people to actually get out and vote, instead of just knowing who they want to vote for.... Important!

22. That may be true
but a voter today is someone who can work to GOTV on November 2nd. Plus it is a great indication the Democrats are energized and republicans are not. Go Blue!!!

27. Houston votes!!
I don't know about that -- Yea, Texas is a stretch this year, but I too just stood in line for an hour to early vote, and all the workers were flabbergasted with the lines. I literally got tears in my eyes (and I'm a big "bubba" and I don't cry) as the vans kept pulling up with the seniors who otherwise would have had trouble making it to the polls. Here's a thought for everyone -- there were a fair number of older folks who saw the long lines, gave up and left. So, after you have voted, if you are in a place with long lines and if you have the time, get back in line and let a senior take your place as you get near the front. Repeat as necessary.

15. I voted early!
Looooooooooooong line. NO electioneering, though, and just from the area I was voting in, I had a sneaking suspicion that they were mostly R's.

However, I took a Democratic friend. And will make SURE other Democrats go and vote too! :)

16. Thanks for the report Vincardog
Help is on the way and Texas can turn blue. We have been working very hard on this.

I voted today too and it feels so good. We have waited four long and ugly years to correct the error the SCOTUS stuck us with in 2000.

Fire the Liar!!!

Good luck to you in your GOTV efforts for NW!

probably today. I'm going to the store to get a fresh box of #2 pencils to fill out my ballot and I'm going to hand-deliver my ballot instead of sticking it in the mail.

never have before, but this year is different. I live in Palo Pinto county and just got off the phone with the county. They are really making it convenient for us. Open from 8a-3:30 during the week and 8a-12 on Saturday

21. did their paper endorse Bush in 2000?
If they endorsed Gore, the fact that they're not endorsing Bush doesn't mean much. But if they endorsed Bush in 2000, that would be a much more stinging rebuke.

32. THIS is NEWS
The Wichita Falls Times Record is owned by the E.W. Scripps Co., and I quote:

"The E.W. Scripps Co. chain mandates use of its endorsement for president in its 21 dailies. Wichita Falls Times Record News]. The endorsement was determined through a group discussion of about 20 editors and executives of newspapers owned by Scripps."

http://www.gwu.edu/~action/natendorse5.html

Look at that list of newspapers, including the Rocky Mountain News (Colorado's #1 daily), as well as major dailies in New Mexico, Ohio, and Florda, all big battle ground states.

And the endorsement are mandated from Corporate...

This means that Bush receives no endorsement from one paper, he receives no endorsements from corporate, which means no endorsements in ANY of those papers. He did in 2000, but NOT in 2004.

That IS news.

29. My prediction (hope) is the margin here in Texas will speak for itself...
I am in Austin, so seeing lots and lots of blue is not surprising. However, its "feels" more blue than in 2000. Right now the polls have * with a 20+ point advantage.
Sure I would love to see this state go blue this year (like it used to be many many years ago) but I just dont think that is going to happen.

HOWEVER, if that margin is 10 or less points on Nov 2nd, its all over for *. So go vote early (I will be doing that this week) and spend Nov 2nd doing the GOTV thing.

Let's send this punk ass chump a message... "You're all hat and no cattle" *grin.

I would get rude comments and bad looks for my BUll SHit pin. Lately people are asking where to get it and telling me they are excited about voting. Lots for the first time.
