Major upset brewing: Kentucky Senate Race TIED
Jim Bunning has exhibited signs of dementia and the states two largest papers have endorsed Bunning's democratic rival Dan Mongiardo. Now a new poll has the race a dead heat 43-43!! If Dems pick this up, I think we win the US Senate.

22. remember,
this seat was considered "safe" for the Republicans a month ago.

With details about Bunning's actions coming out in the press, as well as his bizarre behavior concerning the debate just out, people are starting to realize that there is something very wrong with Sen. Bunning's health.

The Republican's refusal to acknowledge it, and even cover it up are really hurting them!

9. It's basically a dead heat, last time I checked.
DeMint, the Republican, has a narrow lead over Tennenbaum. But the polls from there have been screwy, to say the least...

7. That is great.
Unlike the voters of South Carolina - *cough* Strom *cough* - it seems the voters of Kentucky don't want a doddering old man who can't speak for himself representing them in the Senate.

21. Senate
We need net gain of two seats--currently 51-48-1, the one independent (Jeffords) votes with us:

Currently we are ahead in these GOP seats:
Illinois
Colorado
Alaska
Oklahoma

net Dem gain of 4 seats

GOP is ahead in these Dem seats:
Georgia
South Carolina (but this one can close fast)

We are either ahead or tied in these open Dem seats:
Florida
North Carolina
Louisiana

Then there are SD and KY
which have Dem and Rep incumbents. Daschle I firmly believe will win in SD, and the way KY is closing there is an excellent chance for us to win KY--if that happens--that would be a fifth GOP seat we pick up and I think the Reps might at best only win 2 Dem seats and I feel there is a good chance Dems can win a net gain of 3 seats.

**Also Pennsylvania might close by election day.

15. Now if only we could make progress in PA...
We have good chances in AK, CO, FL, NC, OK, and SC.

And the GOP has ensured that IL will be a lock for Barack Obama (should we refer to him as Senator-Elect Obama now?).

And now we have a shot in KY. If only we could send Mr. Magic Bullet back home to PA - that would be great. :D

18. I've Been Optimistic
over Dan Mongiardo's chances ever since the repug political rally where he was said to resemble a 'terrorist' - a racist comment that I've been pointing out to people all over KY. Reaction has almost universally been repulsion by that statement; I hope it cost Bunning the election!

26. Fuckin' GREAT NEWS!!!
I had no idea this race was so close! It seems that I may finally get a Democratic senator after all! ***screams with excitement*** YES! YES! YES! I guess Bunning's horrible attack ads have backfired. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Maybe some Kentuckians watched the senatorial debate and saw, clearly, who the better candidate was. "Senator Mongiardo", I like the sound of that.

Come to think of it, I have seen a lot of Kerry/Edwards and Daniel Mongiardo yard signs around my county, and I've only seen one or two Bush Cheney and Jim Bunning signs. I seriously hope we get rid of that senile, big tobacco whore, Jim Bunning.

I think I'll send some money to Dr. Dan!!!

My new hero...

27. I'm so thrilled!!!
Bunning was up by 20-something points just a couple of months ago. They were SO arrogant!

Mongiardo is a wonderful guy, I never gave up hope even when it looked hopeless. I've worked hard for this campaign... I feel like crying I'm so happy, I'm such a dork.
