it's about LABELING your opponent.

the bush people know this, and it's working well for them -- when will the kerry camp get it?

1. I think they're banking on the labels failing this time around
I hope they're right.

They are pointing out *'s failures quite well, however.

3. well they're banking wrong then
and they're also banking wrong if they think NOT addressing the labeling will work.

bush has been quite effective in the last two weeks or so, of labeling kerry a liberal, and "the most liberal senator" -- and that shit has worked brilliantly. trust me, i talk to a LOT of folks, and i've heard on more than one occassion "oh my god, i didn't know kerry was so LIBERAL?!"

not only did kerry not fight back in the debates when he was called this, he hasn't thrown it back in bush's face, calling them the most radical rightwing government in history.

liberal might be an ugly word to mainstream america, but guess what? RADICAL RIGHTWING is pretty darn scary too.

who the hell is advising kerry?!?

10. I hear ya
Are they still pushing the "out of touch with reality" meme...

I thought that one was good...

* is the wishy-washy 'if it feels good do it' candidate...

2. I so agree, mine is LOSER
I realize this is not one that Kerry can use.

But for me it works.

Bush is losing the war in Iraq due to his failed policies.

Bush is losing the country due to his divide and conquer approach.

Keep it in your mind, DU'ers, think it day and night,

(mass propaganda mind think)

Bush is a LOSER.

4. So, what good labels for Shrub?
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 02:41 PM by Angrillori
The repugs have been handing it to us on labeling:

Liberal, (as if that's a bad thing. I hate them for turning a good word bad. HATE them.)
Flip-flopper,
etc.
Hell, they've managed to insert these words into popular parlance at an unheard of level.

What're some good sticking points to label *? What has a shot at making popular usage?

Failure?
I would think that'd be a good one that would stick.
Thief/reverse robin hood?
Steal from the 40%-80% income bracket, give to the top 2%.

In fact, I like that reverse robin hood bit. That almost sounds sound-bite worthy.

Other ideas?

Edit to add:

Yeah, the "Radical Rightwing" label ought to be used, HARDCORE. Fricking' shrub. He had the gall to call himself "mainstream." That stuff has to get called out!

5. I don't know. The Kerry big media strategy isn't working well, atm, from
what I can tell. The ads are good, but big media is trashing him and us.

9. yes they are, that's why the dems have always got
to be on the OFFENSE.

he needs to use harsher language, he needs to MAKE the media cover his message.

otherwise, he'll only be clouded by bush's consistent barrage of attacks and labeling.

2 weeks to go. if kerry continues to let the labels go on WITHOUT fighting back, i predict he'll lose.

7. For corporations, not the people
Bush's plan is "stop whining". Bush's health care plan is hope and pray you don't get sick. Bush still isn't leveling with America.

I think they know what the game is, they played it beautifully in Iowa. I think the Dean people would tell you that.

15. "Bush admits he wants to PRIVATIZE social security"
Not a label, more of a "trigger" word.
