What I don't get about the media
The news organizations have been shut out of the White House for almost four years as Rove and Faux News limited access and imformation. They have had no real news to report during that time, and any investigation is met with further threats that they will not be granted even limited access.

Here is there opportunity to report the news as it is: to be critical of both candidates, to make their stand for journalism as an important endeavor and that news reporting can discover and convey the truth. At worst, * would be elected and they would be back where they started. At best, they would have Kerry as president: open, honest, accessible.

1. The "media" does not care about open honest government

It as a whole is nothing more than a propaganda mill for corporate fascists. There are exceptions but not many.

2. Your theory doesn't take into account the bottom line...
...money. The corporations who own the news stations are run by wealthy individuals who personally benefit from a repug president. Additionally, businesses pay less taxes under repugs as well. After all, if they made it big by pulling themselves up by their bootstraps (and a little bit of daddy's money), then they'll be damned if they are going to support those lazy poor people!

3. I can't imagine that Cabal News Network

... is making more money under *--their numbers have been slipping, even as they pander to the White House. Surely they realize that even as they make a right turn, they are only making Faux News a more powerful network.

4. It should be obvious ...

Try to disabuse yourself of the notion that they are anything but owned!

I don't mean that in a conspiratorial way at all. Think in terms of memos and rules from the top. Think in terms of what serves corporate interests best. Think of the Mass Media in terms of NOT reporting what they should and filtering the rest.

Noam Chomsky, (and to a lesser extent) Marshall Mcluhan, Harold Innis, among others, have delved into media and its impact and dynamics.

To me, committing the heretical act of seeing and saying that the Mass Media is nothing more than a sophisticated control tool is the new Enlightenment. The media will not tell you that and they would certainly label the idea conspiratorial and absurd.

Like it or not, that means that entertainment is more about distraction than R&R in that equation. Largly, people are distracted from the things that are very essential and important to them.

The media is such an effective tool when it comes to agitprop that it successfully nullifies the Democratic process. It does it so well, and so systematically, and is hidden in such plain site that this is not obvious except to the most careful observer.

Yet, we see some major cracks in that facade right now, ey? If anyone wants a real Democracy, then a media revolution and potential democratizing of its function is in order.
