Novak: He's uninformed and not funny.

that's pretty funny. I like Carville a lot, but Stewart is right! I think Stewart comes across as extremely sincere. Novak has no idea what he is talking about.

I hate that man, beyond all sense of reason, he is guilty of treason & should be in jail.

Now that he is in a wheelchair, it would be easier to push him down a flight of stairs, though!

53. I agree
I think they're much more comitted to the Democratic Party Establishment than they are to progressive politics, and I think that's dangerous. Once you let someone, ANYONE, tell you how to think, you're in trouble. Even "liberal" pundits tend to bug me at times because they spin too much and I don't like being told what to think. Carville is a great consultant, as is Begala, but they needed to be slapped around a little bit.

Screw Carville and Begala and Novak and Tucker.

They are buffoons. Clowns and sideshow freaks. Hypnotic flashing lights to dazzle and confuse. Politics based on the Pro Wrestling model that people will believe anything if you appeal to their lizard brain.

Part of the problem, not the solution.

Can you imagine the guffaws at the Carville house every night, after Jim and Mary trade notes on how their day went and check their bank account balance?

47. If Carville felt as passionately as Jon does, he could never be married
to that RW monster. I also find him amusing but incoherent and unpersuasive most of the time.

These 4 value style over substance. But what is REALLY threatening to them: Jon has them beaten on both substance AND style. And on courage--no contest.

I didn't think Begala handled the onslaught too badly, actually. My guess is that he went home and felt a bit bad and thought about it a bit more. Self-defense mechanisms probably kicked in, though, and kept him from really processing it.

32. One of Stewart's 'goals' has been a 'blood feud' with another TV show
Now he's got one going, and it's a doozy! Much more convincing than his potshots at Larry King and Barbara Walters, this one has some real possibilities for growth and development. Stewart's already successfully painted Novak as the "Douchebag of Liberty", now he's getting to the point of roasting the whole scurvy lot of them.

I don't doubt for a moment that Jon was sincere in his critique, not to mention dead-on accurate. But he's also managed to get his media war going. Now it's "The Daily Show" vs. "Crossfire".

My money's on TDS.

46. Completely agree!!!
I think it's ok to have some theatre in our news, as long as it's balanced and contructive, which Crossfire I believe is (Hannity and colmes is not).

We also need a balance of theatre and real news which currently doesn't exist.

But crossfire is clearly the most balanced and energized theatre show.

62. I totally disagree
It's easy to bash Britt Hume or Sean Hannity or Larry King or Barbara Walters. Crossfire serves to the illusion that it is a debate show -- an honest confrontation with sincere arguments. "Crossfire" is portrayed as an alternative to one-sided media, an open-minded oasis -- Stewart's point was that it isn't "one-sidedness" or "cheerleading" that is the biggest problem with the media, but the lack of sincerity, not only in arguments but simulated and faked emotional responses to different stories, which give them exposure (ie, the third debate -- "Marygate" trumping "I never said I wasn't concerned about Osama" -- they discuss stories like the Mary Cheney one on crossfire, and recite talking points back and forth, which only deepens the problem). The "cheerleading" only can happen in an insencere theatrical environment. I think that "Crossfire" was the perfect platform for John Stewart to make his case.

What kind of credibility does he have after that..

We filed an assault charge against him (lots of witnesses) in New Hampshire after he shoved a guy on ICE (I caught the guy) and then ran into the CNN bus to hide.. we've got some pretty funny footage of that..

any lawyers out there that want to get Novak on the witness stand re: the assault charge under oath and then start asking him some OTHER questions - like WHO gave you the info re CIA outage..

I'm dead serious here -- that's how they did President Clinton and maybe we could use it on Novak..
