Ohio DUers -- how's it going??
I'm in Maryland, so all I know is what I read, but for some reason I feel really good about Ohio. Any thoughts??

1. I am an ohio duer.
Glad to hear from you, we are tired but we are very optimistic. I am tired of the garbage we keep hearing, especially from the Religious Right, which is neither. I count signs everyday and Kerry has won all but three days since August. I live south of Cleveland, in the Akron area.......we have lots of shrubbery but also lots of clear thinkers for Kerry. I sport lots of signage, especially on my car, thats why I am the anti-bush on wheels. I am gearing up for a Freeway Blogger attack just prior to the election. Polls are showing that Kerry is looking good, but remember they don't take into account the 700,000 newly registered voters, of which almost 2/3 are Dem's. Will they show up, I think yes. I am working with MoveOn Pac, canvassing most days. First time in my life I have donated money and time. Favorite Websites: Salon.com, Buzzflash.com, DU, Air America Radio.com

2. Hang in
There are folks on the way from these parts.

I was delighted to see the Dayton paper endorsement!

On the other hand, researching Sinclair, I noticed they have a lot of affiliates in Ohio. Push back: Kerry was a hero in that war AND when he spoke out against it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Keep at it--I have a hunch you're going to pull it off!

6. He WAS a hero when he protested the war! It was the brave thing to do,
and he can be proud that he helped conclude that mistake and save lives!

7. According to a Freeper, You're right - not so good for *
Here's something I just read on a thread in Freeperville regarding Ohio - a Freeper in OH says all is not well in *world.

"Can't speak for Florida, but I'll give Ohio a shot:

Note: some of these are my own experience, and some are anecdotal.

Because Kerry, the DNC and the 527s are easily outspending our side 3-1 in ads on TV.

Because when you call the Bush campaign (if you can find someone to give you the number) you get someone that can't give directions to the office-- if the phone gets answered at all.

Because when you call and you ask to get called to help out, you never do get a call back.

Because when you go into the Bush office, if they don't know who you are, they act like you don't exist.

Because the Bush campaign, if they do know who you are, and they do happen to like you, can't figure out that you have a real job and can't break away from it on 20 minutes' notice.

Because the Kerry campaign gets people to canvass neighborhoods all over, while the Bush campaign gets people to gether on Saturday morning, and (this one is firsthand) forgets to bring the campaign literature!

Because when they remember to bring the lit to a lit-drop meeting, they send people into areas that vote 80% Republican anyway. (Although, to be honest, I wouldn't want to walk around by myself even in some of the swing areas around here.)

Because when I signed up to host a Party for the President in Ohio, I received a list of "neighbors" to invite, all of whom lived in another county and another area code.

Because when I sent the Bush campaign $50, they spent much more than that trying to get me to send in more money.

None of these incidents have diminished my enthusiasm for President Bush. Indeed, I have been able to meet him and Vice-President Cheney this year. I have volunteered as crowd control at one rally, got a VIP pass for another, have walked my precinct for him, have hosted a Party for the President, have passed out Bush-Cheney stickers at high school football games and parish festivals, and have recruited others to do the same.

But... you asked the question, and I have given you an honest answer."

Buzz off jerk. I am offended by anyone who could possibly have such low regard for our country as to vote for The Dumb Ass. Get lost you scum.

10. OHIO! Suggestion on Fighting Sinclair
In an earlier post I noted that Sinclair has a bunch of affiliates in Ohio. Then I ran across this observation:

"Democrats are hoping for a high turnout of African American voters to boost their prospects in key states, such as Ohio. In 2000, Bush won the state by 166,735 votes, and nearly 100,000 African Americans who were registered to vote in Ohio did not go to the polls.

GOP consultant Eddie Mahe said Kerry's ability to get African Americans and other minorities in Midwestern cities to support him could decide the election."

In that connection, note that the one of the Sinclair owners (and VP) was recently sued by a fair-housing group in Maryland for illegal discrimination against african-americans. I'm afraid I can't retrieve the news report on that but it's researchable: the name of the group is Baltimore Neighbors Inc.

If you can, grab it and get it out!

12. Things are looking good
Never have I seen support for a democrat like I am in my neighborhood this year.

I said months ago that I thought Ohio was a lock.

This state has been hurt by Republicans far too much in recent years for Bush to be reelected.
