The two worst things the news media does to bias against Kerry
The two worst things the news media does to bias against Kerry are:

1. Cherry-Picking Bush vs. Turd-Picking Kerry Clips
2. Playing Bush Clips vs. telling us what Kerry said.

They bias coverage by:

Cherry-picking Bush's clips for the precision talking points;
.....AND.....
Turd-pick Kerry's clips for irrelevance or diffuse verbosity.

OR EVEN WORSE

They play clips of Bush, carefully edited to help him sound good.
.....THEN.....
They tell us "what Kerry said", while missing the best talking points and sound bytes.

The second tactic is especially damaging because Kerry is so strong and impressive when he speaks, as we saw during the debates. By merely having a dull right-wing shill parrot his words, much of the power is lost. Also, by relating his message rather than playing clips of Kerry speaking, the media has contributed to the belief that "people do not know who Kerry is" or that "people are not comfortable with Kerry". They WOULD know who he is and they WOULD feel comfortable with him if they had seen and heard him speak even a fraction of the time the media has given Bush on campaign coverage.

Those two tactics, taken together, are what seem to me to be the worst technique by which the media biases coverage against Kerry.

2. There's a third - All lies are equal
Kerry says we've spent $200 million in Iraq, and that's just as bad as saying that Iraq has nukes.

3. Repeating GOP talking points word-for-word
and presenting them as "news".

and making human interest filler stories front-page: "Oprah's got a big butt! How big? Tune in to NEWS 4 at 5 and find out!", but lets not inform the electorate about Bush selling the US Gov't to the highest bidder.

8. Today show analysis this morning, totally biased
That is so true! The today show presented Bush's "strong on terror" message and even when they show what Kerry is saying it is very short and then rebutted by the Bush opinion. After that they went to the electoral map, analyzed by Chris Matthews and after that went to the latest news about the Olsen twins. Thank God they are keeping me informed about that! Then flipping through the channels I saw Laura Bush talking about how "inappropriate" Kerry's comments about Mary Cheney were. She said she was shocked and so were the twins! (Not the olsen twins, the shrub twins)She said it is wrong for family members to EVER be brought up. But I guess it was OK for chimpy to say that he tries to keep his daughters on a leash! Media bias? what media bias....

4. Good points -- and don't forget the "but-heads"
When Republicans are interviewed by Wolf or Candy or whoever, they get to tell their party's point of view with little or no rebuttal.

When Democrats are interviewed, however, the interviewer turns into a "but-head." "But Republicans are saying..." "But the president said..." "But your opponents would point out..." They present the RNC view if nobody else is there to do it.

6. The debates were an indictment of the media.
They showed how the media conspired with the Repukes for months to misrepresent Kerry. Some had the nerve to say Kerry won because the Republican caricature of Kerry didn't show up. How did the public get this "charicature"? Through the media.
