The October Surprise. Could it be more obvious?
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 10:23 PM by John_H
1) Zarqawi puts out a statement on a (real? CIA?) Web site, making himself the new Osama. Terra "experts" (read: Surrogates of the Goss Mighty Wurlitzer) repeat the following talking points:

a)This annoucement gives Zarqawi access to Al Qaeda infrastructure to attack America.

b)He's the "new face of Al Qaeda"

2) All day the whores trumpet an all out assualt on Zarqawi's hideouts in Fajulla.

3) Chimp says in his speech that he will bring terrorists to justice no matter where they are.

This is a coordinated, textbook PR bait and switch.

Chimp still might go to Iraq. He might also make some kind of "bold" domestic announcement. But Zarqawi gets caught or killed before October 29.

1. You're on the right track
The story this morning that Zarqawi has aligned himself with Osama really had the sound of election shenanigans.

2. You may be on to something there.
Bush treats this "war on terror" as his own tool to get elected.

3. Seems likely, but their preferred surprise would be an attack on Kerry
Their campaign is 99% about trashing John Kerry. So I think their favorite surprise would be dishing some dirt at the last minute -- something shocking and difficult to refute in a short period of time. I have no idea what it'd be.

7. And considering nobody REALLY knows whether or not he's alive even now....
...the body of Hopalong Zarqawi, like Osama before him, will never be found, but just the claim of his death will be enough for the sheeple.

10. I think they are
going to come out with a major negative smear against Kerry. Look for forged documents that he was dishonorably discharged or had letters against him in his military record.

The republicans are obsessed with discrediting Kerry's military service, I think they will stop at nothing to do this. I think Oct will be the same as Sept and Aug.

The good thing is--people are sick of the lies about Kerry's record--they are tuning out of this garbage. Also--throughout his career people have tried this same stunt--it has NEVER brought Kerry down.

About the war in Iraq--they have to subdue Falujjah if they are going to have elections soon. I think it is good for us that they are forced to have these battles near election time here--it reenforces the idea that things are NOT yet peaceful over there. (although I hate the fact that the fighting is going one. ) It would have been in Bush's best interests to have things QUIET in Iraq for the last few weeks before the election--but now he must subdue that city quickly--so they are in a bad situation.

14. I don't understand...
So is the administration in control of Zarqawi and made him make that statement, or is the whole statement faked? Or neither...

The statement is real and Zarqawi IS a real nutjob who should be forced to run naked through Central Park after midnight?

22. If the statement is real, and they really catch him, good on them. BUT
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 08:19 AM by John_H
Like other terrorists who want to prove they are alive,in control and that their statements are really thiers, Zarqawi has made videos of his previous statements. Why not do it with one as major as this one? Do you know anything about who created this website? Remember the speculation by many former intel people that his "letter to osama" was a fake? What about the timing in conjucntion with the invasion of Falluja and the US election? Why are all these supposedly indepoendent experts functioning as surrogates by repeating the same talking points? Who is writing these talking points? Why would you use the dim bulb red herring that the CIA is making Zarqawi say things?

For a person named factcheck, it seeems as though you've missed a lot of facts to check.

15. I said the same thing after the 2nd debate
bu$h and cheney both made a big deal about zarqawi, so they seemed to be playing him up. They were making sure Americans knew he was the guy responsible for the be-headings. This is the one guy they can apparently catch, and they probably will spring on him soon. Plus now the media is all over zarqawi joining forces with Al-Qaeda (pledging loyalty to osama).

So they get zarqawi and presto he's as good as getting osama.

Good call John. Totally agree this is in the planning.

Sonia

This is the answer I just got five seconds ago when I asked my girlfriend if she knew who he was.

They could try this, I guess- but most people have never heard of the guy.

make him into whomever they want him to be, especially with a willing media. They can also make Zarqawi a household word in 12 hours.
