Orlando Kerry Rally Report
Wow! What a day! First of all, I have had a migraine headache since the moment I woke up. I don't know why, but as the day went on it just got worse and worse, despite the fact that the day just kept getting better and better...first, as I reported in another thread, I went to vote on the first day of early voting right after work. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours in line to finally vote! AWESOME turnout! Just absolutely incredible. I was smiling from ear to ear, even with my splitting headache, from the shear number of people. Everyone seemed to be democratic too. People were commenting to each other how never did they think when they were younger that there would come a time where they would legitimately question the outcome of the Presidential election and how outraged they were about this. There was one old guy behind me that made some comment that there were people saying that they were going to go to people's houses with ballots and take their ballots to the polls for them so they didn't have to leave their house to vote (which of course is impossible - you can't possibly verify that the person collecting these ballots is actually turning in valid votes instead of just a stack of ballots he/she filled out to their liking). We all just laughed and said we heard no such thing. He then said "Oh yeah, its some Kerry thing - the democrats are doing it". We all just laughed and pretty much ignored the ignorant fool the rest of the time in line.
As I left, a guy that was just walking up asked me how it looked in there. I told him about an hour wait and he was like "Ohh no!". I smiled and said "It's a good thing! Its a great thing! You should be happy!". He laughed and said I was right. lol
So then, I came home real quick and got ready to go to the Kerry rally in Barnett Park in Orlando. The weirdest thing was happening at the entrance. There was a group of people with signs, which at first I thought were Kerry supporters. Upon closer inspection, they were signs saying "Support your Police" and "He's not OUR Buddy" (referring to Dem. Buddy Dyer - Orlando's mayor, who, btw introduced Kerry). There was a HUGE traffic jam going in and there was NO ONE directing traffic. So I got a little bold. I started yelling at the pigs saying "Maybe if you did your jobs and directed traffic, you would get more support!!". They apparently heard me, because they started shouting back at me, though I couldn't understand them. It was insane. 10,000 people are trying to file into ONE....thats it ONE entrance to this little park, most of which has to cross S.R. 50, a MAJOR street in downtown Orlando, with NO traffic signal and NO traffic Guard, And they want support. HA!
Anyways, before I was able to get to the entrance, two cops came up and blocked off the entrance..so I hopped the median, found a little opening in the fence and found a (illegal) way in. After finally getting a spot, I made my way to the park.
Thousands of happy people...young old, black, white, Christian, Jew, Muslim. lol. there was this one lady, probably in her 60's climbing the wall to get a better view. When a cop told her to get down, she got in a bit of a shouting match with him...they eventually kissed and made up, but it was great to see such spunk out of what appeared to be a harmless older lady. lol. I was right behind this family - a mother with her daughter and son. The son was so cute - probably about 12 or 13 and had this Uncle Sam hat on. It was adorable. And the little girl was the first to shout out NO! when the Congresswoman from California asked if we can afford 4 more years of *(Barbara (?) sorry, I should be shot for forgetting the last name - but you know her - the only one with the kahunas to vote against giving * authority to wage war anywhere terrorists are right after 9/11). We then heard from someone, who I was unfamiliar with, but he was a good speaker that helped pump up the crowd. Then Buddy Dyer introduced Kerry.
Kerry basically said nothing new - it was the typical rally up the die hard supporters type rally - a going over of key points...however, he did say one thing that absolutely STUNNED me. I had never heard this stat before, and it brought tears to my eyes and a gasp out of my mouth. Four years ago, CEO's made an average of 40 times what the regular wage earners in their company made. TODAY, CEO's make 500 TIMES, thats right 500 TIMES what their regular wage earners make. That is just stunning. That, to me, is absolute proof that the big wigs at the companies we work for are pocketing every dime while they scale back our wages. It just made me sick.
But anyways, the crowd was in a great mood. He was frequently interrupted with chants of KERRY KERRY...after his speech, he wandered around almost in a circle around the crown, talking and shaking hands. I got about 10 feet from him, and it made my day. I could just see in his eyes that he really does have a heart. He really does care. He really does want to expose the truth (though at present time he is a bit restricted in the midst of a close race). I saw, first hand, the eyes of a man that wants to change this country for the better. A man that wants to even the playing field and make this a great place for everybody, not just the rich. I really did get chills, and I am someone who in the beginning only supported Kerry to get * out of there. Now I want him in there because he is going to be the next GREAT President of the United States.

I liked the the guy that yelled "Great job with the debates". :-) Kerry really does ad lib well when people shout encouragement.

9. Haven't tried it.
Thanks for the advice. I actually laid down for about an hour after the rally and it helped a little. Think Im coming down with something, cuz food didnt taste good at all to me today either. Ive been feeling better the past hour or two though..think it was just a little bug (hopefully not the precursor to the FLU!)

26. BOTOX. Seriously; it totally ends migraines
I used to have vicious migraines regularly, but heard that botox would put an end to them. Tried it, and it really works! (two shots last 6-8 months). It wore off about three months mago, and i had a very nasty headache today as well. I think the heat, dust, smokers and car fumes from today didn't help, either.

28. If you feel like you're coming down with something
go to the store immediately and get some Airborne. It's all natural so you don't have to worry and it is amazing. I've been using for about a year and a half whenever I feel run down or achy like I might be coming down with something. It's like freaking magic. I didn't get a single cold last winter and that's incredible considering my office is like a hotbed of bad, dry air and tons of germs.

And learn how to use the "enter" key. One big huge paragraph is hard to read. Tedious.

15. Was it a black Congresswoman? Must have been Barbara Lee....she
is great...not mine, but just across the SF Bay in the Oakland Area...She is the firecracker from the Black Congresional Caucus that laid into this administration many times....We love her here in CA! :hi:

Thanks for the report....My mom is in Cocoa and unfortunately couldn't make it their today, but her Mother-In-Law (My stepfathers' Mom) who is 83 apparentely made the journey....She is a lifelong Republican who is voting Kerry...wife of a retired Colonel in the Army too....

Meanwhile, what you said about Kerry really caring is so true...I'm so glad you got to see in the man's eyes...I did too and even got to get a hug from him....You know how you can "feel" a persons warmth when you hug? Well, John Kerry's energy is warm and kind and yes, he really does care and will make a great President and unite our country and the world.

20. YES! Barbara Lee. THANK YOU!
It was killing me...lol. I love her! She is so awesome. She was there to reassure us that Corrine Brown (love her too!) was out and about making sure everything was going as fair as possible around the polling places.

23. Wow, great link! Thanks.
Just found out the CEO of the company I am about to accept a job offer from makes about $9,000,000/yr. The job offer is for $25,000/yr. This for a position repairing computers which, according to Salry.com and other places is worth about 45-55,000/yr plus benefits. I am at 1/360th of my CEO's pay (4 yrs ago, techs in my field WERE making 45,000/yr). Funny thing is, I started as a TEMP with this company, doing the same job 3 yrs ago for $15/hr. I got laid off shortly after 9/11, got hired back, again, as a TEMP, making $13/hr. Now that they are hiring me on PERMANENT, my pay is again decreasing to about $12.02/hr. Once I pay for my health insurance and taxes, I will be down to less than $9/hr. This for a job in which I have 6 certifications and experience equal to a masters degree. Shameful. I thought you were supposed to make MORE money when you went permanent. I still havent acepted. I just dont see the benefit yet. Hell, I dont even get a laptop to use, despite the fact I work on over 50/wk!!

19. CEOs...gets worse
and since 2000 I believe the unbelievable...

the CEO's who outsourced the most, i.e. fired Americans and shipped
the jobs offshore..

increased their take 45% and while their corporate overall profits
were lame...

their pay increased...about the percentage of the salary money saved
by firing all of those Americans.

See my links for stats article in the forum.

Help is on the way! President Kerry will stop these greedy terrorist CEOs. That terror war is just as dangerous and damaging to middle class Americans.

Happy to hear about packed early voting in FL too. Go FL Dems go, you can do it!!
