Carville Question
Hey everyone, could use a little help here. I've got a harcore right-winger approaching me daily with ludicrous arguments on various political issues, most of which I refute with little trouble.

They came up to me the other day though and started rambling about James Carville's book (which one I am not sure), inside which Carville apparently claims that cheating in a political race is OK. My problem lies in that I haven't read the book (though I doubt this person has either). Did Carville really say this?

Thanks.

1. I'm sure he does.
Ask him what Karl Rove has to say about cheating.

4. OH trust me
I happily brought up that scumbag (Rove) and dutifully pointed out that they play dirty with members of their own f'ing party (the absolute smear job that they did on John McCain).

2. After Carville tried to diss on Jon Stewart I could give a shit what he
says, he probably did say it, fuck him he is just jealous that people actually trust Jon Stewart.

Sorry to hijack your thread I'm still pissed about it.

I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt it.

5. I'm assuming he's talking about Carville's "Fight Back" book. It does NOT
advocate any such thing that I can recall.

The burden is not on YOU to disprove this bozo. If he's going to throw out these charges the burden is on HIM to SHOW YOU THE PASSAGE in the book.

Heh. Make him buy the book, bring it in and show you where.

Alternatively, if you buy the book, bring it in and make him show you where he says this.

WTF WTF WTF is it with these Repubs who think they have the right to spew whatever bullshit they feel like or heard on FOX/Rush/Hannity and the burden is always on YOU to disprove it!? Screw that!

7. It may depend on your definition of cheating.
I don't know what book your pet Gooper is talking about, Carville's written a few. I've read a couple of them, and I do know that Carville has no problem with dirty campaigning -- but I don't think, by dirty, he means actually cheating or lying about your opponent.

He seems to have no problem with getting down and rolling around in the mud, if he feels it's required -- he'll use anything he can dig up about somebody, but I don't think he'd fling anything at anybody that wasn't true.

See, it's all in how you play the truth, and how you time it, with Carville. I think he probably draws the line at lying, though, or outright cheating. In other words, he probably said something about taking advantage of any situation -- but I think with him, that means if you figure out something legitimate that the other guy hasn't, you have the advantage on him, and anything that's within the rules and true is fair game.

But I don't know what book you mean. I do know Carville probably bites, and I wouldn't get within five feet of him.

8. Why don't you ask him to show you the passage in the book?
I mean if he's ranting about the book, that means HE'S READ IT, RIGHT? So he should have a copy.

lol, somehow though, I doubt he's read it at all, he's probably just repeating some BS someone else told him.

9. I read "Fighting Back"
I don't think he wrote that, maybe sarcastically. He did have those great pictures of dictators dressing up and playing army.
