I'm beginning to feel like all supporters of Bush are unpatriotic ...
..and do not really love this country. I'm having a difficult time understanding how anyone could vote for such a disaster. If they truly loved our country, they could see the damage done - they would not turn their eye away. They must know the damage they are doing to our country? If not, is ignorance really an excuse? I do not like the way I am starting to feel about most Republicans. They are trying to destroy my country.

1. we are speeding
down the road to a fascist dictatorship and some of them cannot see it. We are nearly to the point of duplicating the ills of Nazi Germany, but so many people support the Nazi government. I guess it is true that history repeats itself.

2. To vote for Bush is to commit treason.
And if I ever have my way, will be dealt with that way.

3. I believe that republicans are putting their party above their country too
The repub party's mission also seems to be "Not to just beat the Democrats, but to destroy them" and default to a one party system.

It all seems peculiar coming from those who claim to be so patriotic that they would strive to dismantle our government.

5. "starting to feel"
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 02:48 AM by secular_warrior
I've felt this way since they decided to destroy President Clinton.

There is no civility left in this country because of them. Throughout the history of our country, parties always fought bitterly, but ultimately had respect for the process. These people have respect for nothing. It is impossible to play ball with people who won't play by the rules. This is much bigger than a simple partisan matter. They are a threat to America and democracy itself. Every American - regardless of party or ideology - has a duty to stop them.

6. You Are Right To Do So, Sir
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 02:26 AM by The Magistrate
The criminals of the '00 Coup are the most profoundly un-American bunch to mar our nation's politics during my lifetime. Their avowed intention is to turn the United States into something resembling Mexico or Brazil, with the bulk of the populace reduced to penury and peonage in service of a small elite in control of all real wealth and property. Liberty and Democracy are impossible in such a society, and so the country will, by their doing, cease to be that which we were born in and love as patriots.

The mass support for these people comes today freom three sources. The first are people who oppose the doctrine of our first national statement, the Declaration of Independence, that all people are created equal: these persons believe there are inferiors and superiors, and whether they conceive the inferiors to be blacks or foreigners, women or gay people, vote to keep inferiors in their lesser place, regardless of the consequences to the country. The second are people who place their religion above all other concerns, who are so infected with the diseases of spiritual pride that they actually believe themselves to be in direct rapport with the universal diety, that deigns to direct their actions by personal communication: however sincerely felt this delusion may be, it leaves them to be led by the nose on a string held by chalatans determined to destroy the liberties and freedoms that are the birthright of our country. The third are persons who are simply cowards, who are so deficient in courage and good sense that they are actually scared of a small band of Islamic revolutionists, and believe that these can, by their own actions, do fundamental harm to the United States of America: this profound failing on their part leads them to align with blustering bullies and eagerly surrender themselves to authoritarianisms wholly contrary to the spirit of a free people.

9. excellent analysis - they ARE cowards
A large amount of the people propping up this regime are complete COWARDS. It's about time someone stood up and told them exactly what they are. If they help this regime get a second term, we must not relent. We must take to the streets and hold the cowards -- the everyday people who enable Bush -- accountable. They should not be allowed to simply vote and slip back into the "silent majority" background. They must be told what they are doing is wrong. They must be forced to deal with their own conscience.

7. They are patriotic but
they do not know the country our Founding Fathers brought into being. The respect the symbols (e.g. the flag) and do not appreciate the intent, the vision, the purpose.

And as others have noted, as a consequence, we are indeed rushing down the road that leads to tyranny, fascisim, and atrocity.

But in a couple of weeks, we have a chance to make a U-turn.

8. They are unpatriotic
they don't really care about America at all, if they did they would want the best for it. All chimp's supporters care about is their own selfish selves, what's in it for them and then are too stupid to realize there is NOTHING in it (chimp's America) for them.

I'd like to print this old Onion article, written before Bush even took office, and smack those dildoheads with it.

13. It's not like they don't have access to the same info we do...
To call them uninformed is being kind - being "willfully uninformed," especially in the face of the gross negligence and incompetence displayed by ChimpCo, makes them accomplices to the crimes, IMHO...

"...Why are you putting party over country? By ALL accounts, Iraq is the worst foreign policy disaster in US history - one that has damaged US stature and credibility for at least a generation. Why are you in favor of continuing this decline?"

I wish I could report that my statement changed their minds, but sadly, these people are fed a steady diet of RW radio and FauxNews, and think every other source is (liberal) biased...:eyes:
