What's up with the Washington Post |
|
Why haven't they endorsed anyone yet? I heard some very unsubstantiated rumors they were not going to endorse this year. My fingers are poised on the phone to cancel my membership if that happens, or if God forbid they endorse Bush.
Anyone heard ?

2. Last election, they did endorsed Gore on Sunday, October 22. |
|
That was two weeks and two before the election so following the same schedule, they should have done it two days ago.

4. This Sunday...Did Whorrie Kurtz Show Their Hand? |
|
The other day this slime merchant was "anal" izing the newspaper endorsements and noted the WaPo hadn't endorsed yet (of course he doesn't mention that he's on the editorial board there), and that they did endorse Gore in 2000, but that "this country is a far different place now".
Also far different is No Katherine Graham...or Ben Bradlee.
I expect an endorsement for Kerry as they will follow suit with the other major papers, but if they don't endorse at all, I wouldn't be surprised and the media would pounce like it was an endorsement for Bunnypants. Brace thyself.

If, in the most Democratic "state" (electorally speaking), that neither newspaper (Post or Moonie Times) reflected the choice of the electorate.

5. They're still sulking over loss of Joementum |

Lieberman was their favorite Democratic candidate. They probably spend every day polishing the endorsement they would have written for him, and it makes them too mopey to write another one.

The Post has been dumbed down. I think some marketing guru told them that declining circulation for all newspapers will force them to differentiate themselves from the NY Times, or some other such crap.

10. I agree they've been dumbed down. |

There were some incredible articles in the 90s, which you just don't see anymore.

12. Dumbed down? They've become irrelevant, |

kool-aid drinking spinmeisters for shrub. They just can't do a single article that doesn't in some way take a shot at Kerry and elevate shrub.
Katherine Graham must be rolling in her grave.

in 2000, that's when they did it.
And they will endorse Kerry. Anyone that thinks they're going to endorse Bush needs to stop sniffing glue.
They'll endorse Kerry and then shit on him for 4 years while he's in office. That's their M.O.

11. I think they will endorse Bush |
|
How could they not?
They have been Bush's biggest supporter for the war, even told the public that WMD were there.
So now you expect them to endorse Kerry? I don't think so.
Besides, Katherine Graham's son runs the place and he is far to the right of her philosophy.
