You can thank "Beaconess" and Skinner for this column...
I sent the original post (about Cheney's hypocrisy) by beaconess to Eric Zorn at the Chicago Tribune. He was impressed, asked if I wrote it, and if it was online somewhere. I sent him the link, and 3 days later here's his column in today's Trib. Great job Beaconess, and Skinner for putting it on the front page!

Snip:

In the late 1990s through early 2000, Cheney, now 35, traveled the country using her status as a lesbian to sell beer.

The Coors Brewing Co., long a controversial company in the gay community for its support of ultra-conservative causes, hired her to head its gay and lesbian outreach program.

A large part of her job was visiting bar owners and distributors--at times in the company of "International Mr. Leather"-- and convincing them that the Coors company had changed completely since the 1970s when gays began boycotting its products.

And, indeed, as the Tribune reported four years ago when Cheney's father, Richard, became the Republican vice-presidential nominee, "with her help, Coors lured gay drinkers so successfully that religious conservatives denounced the brewer, claiming the firm undermined traditional family values."

She was as out as Sammy Sosa in the clutch.

1. Nice work. That's what gets me, she's willing to trade on her sexual
preference thing when it's to her advantage, and cry and play victim when that seems to be to her advantage. And I say 'her' because she's a big player in the scheme to get her daddy back into power. Even though she doesn't have his support when it comes to gay rights. He just goes along with the discriminatory bush* fundy policy of saying that being gay is wrong and there should be a Constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriages. A Constitutional amendment for goodness sakes. She's supporting an administration that would take a step against lesbians and gays that is not only harmful, but in some ways makes it a 'national' policy to discriminate against them. That is one hell of a big step to take against one group of people.

5. Thanks, but as I recall we ALL were pushing it forward because
Beaconess had written it so perfectly and succinctly. Though it is nice to see fruits from one's labors...

4. Send this to all the media who can't stop harping on it
She outed herself(along with the Cheneys), for God's sake, and Keyes (and other Rethugs)have said terrible things about her--what Kerry said was supportive.
