Message for the Shrub
Mr. Bush*, you can't "fight terrorists abroad" by sending American troops and treasure where there are no terrorists, and as you yourself have sometimes admitted, there were no al-Qaeda terrorists in Saddam's Iraq. In 2001, you told Osama bin Laden that he could run but he could not hide. Well, Osama is still running and hiding, and why? Because you chose not to fight the terrorists abroad, or anywhere else, and instead to invade Iraq. Your can run from your record, as you have been doing, but you cannot hid behind empty words. If the American people want a president who will fight the terrorists abroad, they had better vote for John Kerry.

1. the whole "fight terrorists there, instead of here"
pisses me off. So many people I talk to are supporting bush because of this. "We have not been attacked since 9/11"

Why do they hold themselves in higher reguard than Iraqi citizens? We went over there and disrupted their lives, bombed the hell out of their country, and have caused the terrorists to stream across their borders so we could fight them there!

We are in essence saying our country is more important than your country, our lives are more valuable than your lives. This mentality of my fellow americans sickens me.

This makes me so sad.

While, yes, there have been no attacks HERE, how many other attacks have happened?
Russia
Spain
Egypt
ect......
And how long was it between WTC events, years?
It takes a lot of planning for an event like 9/11 to take place, if ANYONE thinks the planning process has been stopped by * is lacking in brains.
The only hope I hold is that the terrorists keep striving for the BIG events. Although we didn't stop the last one, It CAN be stopped!
It's the little, one man-one car bomb events, that scare the hell out of me. They take little or no planning, and it could happen anywhere.
****Before everyone gets all worked up*****
I do not want another 9/11
all I'm saying is 9/11's can be prevented if future administrations pay attention!
Some guy deciding 1 hour ago to blow up a mall with a car bomb is a little hard to stop.

3. We're not safer, because...

Whereas before a lot of people in the middle east either liked us or were just ambivalent or maybe had problems with our policies, we were tolerated.

Now there are very large populations that actively hate us (and with good reason). Bush screwed up by going it alone - forget the cost(s), the big mistake was not having other Arab nations on board to give it legitimacy (or the blessing of the UN). As a result, we're viewed upon as the invaders we are.

And Abu Ghraib didn't help our image much either.
