Sinclair Broadcast Reminder: Be Nice to the People Answering the Phone |
|
I know it probably goes without saying, but a lot of us get (ahem) EXTREMELY PASSIONATE about our views on this topic (as well we should). Please be courteous to the nice people answering the phone, and take the time to explain what the issues are -- for example, almost everyone in the country has heard about the Smear Boat guys, but not everyone knows they've been completely discredited, and not everyone knows the "documentary" has already been discredited by the US Navy and Reality.
Plus, they have to listen to you, and that means the company is paying for their time, which impacts their bottom line, which means Sinclair is costing them money -- Yeah!
Think of the phone calls you are making as an opportunity to get ONE MORE VOTE FOR KERRY (think about it: if you are answering a customer service phone, odds are you didn't benefit much from Blinky's tax cuts) -- and KICK SOME SINCLAIR BUTT!!!
:)

2. Amen...These People Are Caught In The Middle |
|
First, kudos to Jon Liebermann, the Sinclair "News" dept. head that quit and has taken a lot of heat for speaking out. There's many others inside Sinclair stations (anyone remember the dinosaur??) that are stuck in a difficult situation...their jobs and feeding families vs. a corporation that is hell-bent on self-destruction and compromising many of its own employees in the process.
A lot of the local Sinclair stations have little contact with the mucky-mucks in Maryland...and we have still to hear publicly from the man behind the curtain, David Smith, whose making all the decisions here. The employees at these stations probably have never met him either.
It's double tough since if you piss off your current boss, you may find a black mark following you across town (since they own that station) or to other markets.
I've worked in this environment and have read posts from "insiders in Sinclair" on other message boards who are scared shit about what's happening but can't take the chance in such a crappy economy of taking a hike.

our local Sinclair workers is a great Dem that I always see at our caucuses. She must be going nuts, but she is likely to old to start all over elsewhere. She is close to retirement.

5. I am extremely grateful he displayed such professional integrity. |
|
I hope things work out for him. I don't even have any "brilliant" suggestions for him, and I read Sinclair is planning on holding him to the "non-compete" clause. I hope he sues.
