2. He was ripping on xfire all through the show. |

It became a running joke. Hilarious. Catch the repeat today if you can.

3. Yes, it was his "opening thought" bit, and he referenced it a little more. |
|
Mostly it was just a recap, but the audience went nuts.

He was funny.. and he went further by saying that not only is Tucker a dick, so is Begala (and someone else, i can't remember! :)) He didnt't want them to feel left out.. :))
Plus, he interviewed Ed Koch, who is a * supporter... Jon threw in some good zingers, IMO!
I love Stewart!

5. Has Tucker never seen The Daily Show? Didn't he understand the premise? |
|
It is satire. It is humorous, but because it is satire, it also actually believes the news media sucks. It isn't just making fun of Sam Donaldson's eyebrows or Jenning's slush. Its making fun of the fundamental failure of the news media to address any issues with any intelligence. When Tucker asked Stewart to be funny, he didn't realize--Stewart WAS be funny. Satire is funny. Tucker doesn't get it because he didn't realize how debased he and his ilk are.
All Stewart said to Tucker is what he says EVERYTIME HE IS INTERVIEWED. Every. Single. Time. He isn't saying it just for laughs, any more than Swift thought eating children is inherently funny.

6. Jon Stewart seems a little more edgy now |
|
In the past he's always seemed to treat the political stuff with more lighthearted humor, but on his show last night he seemed a lot sharper, just as he did on crossfire. I guess he's just as pissed as the rest of us.

9. Actually, That's A Pretty Poorly Written Article |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 10:52 AM by DrFunkenstein
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad any mention of the exchange exists. But at best it functions as little more than a transcript with minor notes, at worst it actually gets even some of Jon Stewart's nuances wrong. What it certainly doesn't do is elaborate on the critiques Stewart brings up in any meaningful way.
It reads more like a bloggers thoughts than an actual article. But that might just be me being a poopy-pants.
