Josh Marshall reports NBC/WSJ poll of LV due out tonight is dead heat! |
|
NBC/WSJ has its new poll out tonight. And I hear it's got welcome news for Kerry. Dead even among likely voters. -- Josh Marshall http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com

2. The trends mean something |
|
If Kerry begins to surge in national polls, the states will slowly but surely surge in his favor.

5. The state polls are even better |
|
A new Ohio poll has Kerry up 2, 48-46, after he trailed in the same poll by 11 after the RNC. The pollster said the numbers are back to where they were after the DNC. A Florida poll out yesterday has Kerry up 1, 50-49. He's also up 6 in Pennsylvania.

The Electoral College follows the popular vote.... The greater the popular vote margin the greater the Electoral College vote margin...

19. State polls are going Kerry's way |
|
I like these two sites myself:
www.dalythoughts.com Both Oh and Fl are now toss ups (and arguably should be considered slight advantage for Kerry). He's a Bush supporter, but his analysis usually makes sense.
www.race2004.net This is another good one.
www.electoral-vote.com I'm not a big fan of his methadology (he uses partisan polls), but it's sort of interesting anyways. I like the lay out.

4. PROPAGANDA VALUE---and that's what is sooooo important at this |
|
late in the game. You see it being played on CNN with their goddamn Gallup, etc. They want Dems to stay home. So, the more of these "Kerry is coming on" polls puts a butane burner right under the ass of any Dems who might be wandering away, makes Repubs feel the ship is going down, and makes those who are sorta wishy-washy in the first place want to jump on the wagon!!!

We do not want to be cocky, or discourageed. Nice and steady wins the race. A little fear is helpful, but the news makes out like Dems should be crying in their beer already.
With national polls showing dead even, that talk will stop, for the time being. The whores will of course go into shill overdirve (they have two songs: "Bush is winning" and "Here's what Bush needs to do to win." They are like hometown sportscasters, unabashedly partisan and assuming their audience is too.
But they also want a tight race - drives interest, eyeballs, and ad revenues, and maybe more importantly makes THEM feel like the kingmakers.
We need to keep our heads down and charge.
