...before being hired back. He could do it, but he is not the person for the job. Sorry. I have personal knowledge, and while he did a great job on the campaign trail, and could be viable in other positions, there are too many problems with him that too many senior military are aware of, and they would play these up. Without going into detail, they are enough to ruin his effectiveness--and to dampen down the salacious suppositions, they have nothing to do with personal peccadillos, they have to do with serious operational issues.

As has been covered ad nauseam, Wes Clark isn't eligible to be Sec. of Defense, due to the rule that a Sec of Def. has to have been out of the military for 10 years before taking up the post.
I'd like to see him somwhere in a Kerry Administration, though.

6. There are, believe it or not, a few conservatives worth mentioning. |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 11:07 AM by aden_nak
Schwartzkoff, if he's willing, might be a good "across the aisle" choice for a number of roles. He actually came out against the War in Iraq, citing the very reasons given back during the first war, as well as the obvious fact that it had nothing to do with 9/11.
Al Gore might do well heading the EPA, or perhaps as Secretary of the Interior. Certainly those are issues he is very well versed in.
Richard Clarke might make a good replacement for that asshole Gross that Bush installed in his new "meaningless position" as Intelligence Czar. Assuming Kerry makes the position mean something.
Joe Lieberman would be great for, well, no I'm just fucking with you. He's useless.
Attorney General is a trickier one, though. I've thought about it a bit, and I can't quite make up my mind on it. Responses?
Okay, okay, so I only came up with ONE conservative. Sue me.

18. Thanks, I thought so. :P |

He's been out of the military since a little after the end of the first Gulf War (that's got to be 10 years by 2005). He worked with Dick Cheney and Colin Powel, so no one can accuse Kerry of picking someone "weak" for Secretary of Defense. I mean, this was who Poppy Bush got to fight Saddam the first time, eh?
And yet in spite of those last two facts, he's actually intelligent, from all the interviews I've seen. Especially recently. I saw a piece on him in one of those hour long news shows (there are far too many for me to give a shit which one it was) and he looked both pissed off and saddened by our decision to invade Iraq.
His basic message was that you try not to go to war at all, which hadn't been done, But then when you DO go to war, you have a friggin' PLAN. Which also hadn't been done. And you'd better have a good reason. Which also, well, you get the idea.

There's no way that Kerry would have just white moderate men in the top jobs, especially after Colin Powell and Condi has big jobs in the Shrub admin.
I figure that Susan Rice might be head of NSA. Possibly a minority at Justice and a woman at the State Dept.

37. Like your choices. Unfortunately, Richard Clarke testified at the.. |
|
9-11 Commission this summer that he "will not accept a position in the Kerry Administration." (..when John Lehman accused him of *partisanship* and trying to promote his book, Against All Enemies during his devastating testimony about Bush.)
Maybe as an outside advisor, perhaps. Hope so.
Also, Bob Graham as Director of Homeland Security. (Sure wish we would rename this department, because it conjures up these guys who have made such a neglected mess of it. It really makes me angry how parts of our language have been bastardized by these criminals.)
Our government needs a big tent over it to fumigate all the cockroaches before January 20, 2005.
