New poll has Kerry up 13 in NJ |
|
http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-18/109816776319500.xmlYeah, this state's "in play" all right. :eyes: If Rove wants Bush to spend valuable time and money campaigning in blue states he has no shot at winning, I ain't complaining.

1. MSNBC keeps showing a Quinnipac (sp?) poll that has it closer. Why? |
|
Never mind. Don't answer that.

5. Bill it as a major speech... |
|
Get a free hour of cable news network coverage. Create impression that a blue state is in play. And the American People, rather than the campaign pays for it.
Bonus: because NJ's physically close to DC, there's still time to get to FL.

6. The chimp's visit yesterday worked wonders, eh? |

Kerry was ahead in NH and Ohio polls this morning too! Don't ask me which ones they were because I don't remember. I saw them on C-SPAN this morning. :hi:

7. I told you. I live here. NJ is not a swing state. |
|
Bush can come over here and scream about 9/11 all he wants. It's not going to work. New Jersey is the most densly populated state in the Union. And when that many people live in that little space, there just aren't enough jobs to go around. I have friends with college degrees (sometimes two of them) working at the same place they worked in high school.
Bush doesn't have a chance here, so he can piss away all the money campaigning that he likes.

8. New Jersey's not a swing state |
|
NJ always seems to poll like a close race, but ends up going easily for the Democrat. If it were really that tight, Kerry would be up there. He's obviously confident that NJ's the least of his concerns.

14. shrub close in NJ is a Rove distraction scam |
|
My thought is they are hoping to get a false story started in hopes Kerry and his team take the bait and spend less time in real battelground states.
I'm sure Kerry's inside polling show otherwise.

15. I think the strategy is less about |
|
tricking Kerry into coming to New Jersey (Kerry's campaign can read, they know NJ is not in play) and more about getting a news story that implies that Bush is so strong it looks like he is going to take even democratic states. It's like going to California in 2000. More about advancing an "inevitability" strategy to charge up the base and demoralize dems than trying to force Kerry's hand. They haven't actually spent any money in NJ.
