2. Nice self-outage.
Dean is among one of the best debators. He has consistently won, in my view, of his debates among the 9 candidates during the primaries.

3. I guess we see it differently.

I think he stumbles, stutters and is unconvincing in the debate format. I thought Nader demolished him a few months ago. And, by the way, how does anyone WIN a debate that has nine people in it? lol

9. Actually we see the same thing, we just report it differently.

8. I've seen him plenty of times.
And he simply isn't very good in the format. He's better on the campaign trail or in one on one interviews. Just from a personality standpoint he is similar to George W Bush in many ways. He has a set of talking points he sets in his mind and never really deviates from them. He isn't the best user of the English language and he isn't very eloquent, but he gets labeled as a "straight talker" who tells it like it is and sticks to his guns and won't waiver. He has (had) a sort of 'cult of personality' similar to WBush. A group of handlers around him who knew how to present him (for the most part). The problem was he was an insurgent, not the establishment. Anyway, my 2 cents.
